Hi I am arriving at about 6pm into HK so flying on to Taiwan may be easier the following morning, is there a convenient over night hotel at or near the airport ?

Thanks

Regal, Skycity Marriott, Novotel Citygate ... we have received good feedback about all three.

Have stayed Novotel Citygate. Good rooms and exec lounge. Great outdoor pool. Connected to a fashion outlet shopping centre for some good bargains.

I've got an overnight stay in Hong Kong arriving about 1800 on a Friday and departing 0930 Saturday.

Prices of these three hotels are pretty line ball. Would it be true to say that staying at the Novotel, which seems to be in a more diverse commercial area, would offer more for filling in the evening?

From memory there was only really the Citygate shopping centre next door. Didn't seem to be anything much else in the near vicinity however it is next to the MTR.

Not particularly - Novotel is in Tung Chung which is mostly a CX flight attendant town :) Why not try the W Hong Kong, located on top of Kowloon station you can easily jump a train to Hong Kong Island (3 mins) or the Airport Express (30 mins). Don't forget to try the outdoor spa and pool (76th floor).

Thanks for the great response, when I return from my Conference in Tiawan I plan on stopping over in HK for a few days to look around, any good sugestions on where to stay and what not to miss.

Thanks for the response. I didn't really want to bother going into Kowloon/HK Island as I was there only a few weeks ago on the double SC run . I'm really just looking for a place to crash at the airport overnight but was wondering how to fill in the Friday night.

It's a Friday night buddy! There's your answer! Land at 6pm, clear customs and immigration by 630pm, airport express to W by 7pm. Check-in, freshen up, wear a nice shirt and catch a cab into LKF by 8'ish ;) Heck, if LKF is too far, check the W party schedule as there will be definitely something happening there!!! And W guests, generally get complimentary access to whatever is happening! [Unless its some uber-exclusive party].

Mate, you clearly do not know how old I am :p. The club scene is far in my past . The uber-restaurant scene is more my thing but as I'll be, at minimum, in J on the A380 SYD-HKG (will put in the F UPG request), after the F lounge and that I somehow think I won't want to be eating or drinking much after arriving . It will be more a liver-cleansing needed .

I just wondered if other hotels near the airport would help avoid the boredom of a hotel room for a few hours. My initial thought was to simply walk to the Regal and put up with a quiet night but the other hotels at the airport looked as though maybe there may be more going on around them, even just for a stroll to kill a bit of time. If not, no problem.

I really messed this one up . Laughing Out Loud or LOL in our generation speak ;) Just teasing you ;)

Novotel Citygate hasn't let me down yet... I've transited through there 4-5 times, and I agree with others, it's an ideal transit hotel. Shops are open until around 9pm, there are a few restaurants, and the outdoor pool is lovely!

The Exec floor has a nice lounge to relax in.

Getting there is simple too, just go to the hotel bus meeting point, and you'll be directed (sometimes this is slow) to a mini bus, 5 mins later, you're checking in...

Enjoy!

Citygate has a day rate if you arrive early a.m. and depart later the same day

I wouldn't discount the W, even so.

I've a couple of overnighters in Hong Kong in the next bit, and am happily staying in the W. Very convenient given the hotel is perched on Kowloon station. And the Elements mall gives you some nice shopping to kill a couple of hours.

... and I'm on the wrong side of 40 (just);)

I would highly recommend novotel Citygate. Very classy, great rooms, short shuttle bus to the airport, good restaurants and cheaper than the others from my experience.

Check the bags in for the next morning. Hit the ferry (or helicopter transit) for Macau. Great bars and resturants in the old town and then onto the new development. A bit of vegas. Gamble your accomodation charges you've saved for the night.
When the appetite is full, head back to the airport, freshen up in the lounge and onwards.
Cheers.

IMHO I would stay at Nathan RD area and then just commute between hotel and airport.

You will be able to get some sight seeing in and also go to one of the many markets.

You can get the train for about 90HKD each way and you will get dropped right to your door, by a transfer bus at train station.

Cab is about 300HKD each way
