Honolulu Waikiki Beach - Marriott vs Hilton

Hello, I currently have a few refundable bookings for a trip in September and need to lock one in.

I'm weighing up between Hilton Waikiki, Hilton Hawaiian Village (HHV) Waikiki Beach Resort or Marriott Waikiki.

I am Diamond with Hilton and Gold Elite with Marriott. We are a couple travelling with no kids so at the moment think the HHV is least preferred.
I've spent quite a while reading tripadvisor and a few other forums but looks like things are much of a muchness.

Does anyone have direct experience staying between these hotels?
