I have noticed recently, at a couple of QPs, that there can be a hot food item (eg macaroni cheese) on offer in the regular QP at times when nothing hot (except soup) is being offered in the J lounge.

This is at times like 2pm-5pm.

Take a plate from the QP into the J lounge? It just seems a bit strange that a hot item is not offered in the J lounge too.

Macaroni cheese is not good for you anyway. ;)

And yes I have noticed this in the past couple of months where the Qantas Lounge has hot food lunch options and the business lounge does not.

You need to give the people who actually pay for lounge access something for their money....

Austman, the catering staff probably think you are a red e-deal WP. Assuming you are travelling J class, simply show your boarding pass to one of the staff and they will discreetly escort you to the private Business Class dining area around the back.

Was at the BNE international F lounge the other week where there were zero hot options however in the QP there were hot pies, cheese toasties etc.

They really need to get that air conditioning working in that F lounge. On a sunny afternoon it gets so bad the air con cant keep up and eventually most pax (time i was there 60% moved) jump into the QP where the air con is doing it's job properly.

It might have been catering to the majority. In Melbourne J lounge the other day there were only three frequent flyers. Me and these two:

Is there a BNE Flounge???

this is a joke right?

no one has ever offered this to me, and 95% of the time i go into Business lounge is when i am flying domestic j

During my Brisbane lounge quality control check last Fri, Dom j lounge had pies, and a pizza topped bread. There was also a curry that had meat as tough as rubber in it. No idea what it was, wasn't labelled.

Qantas club had the old style pizzas that used to be in j, mac cheese and another pasta that was much like a spag bol.

Both lounges had mushroom soup.

It's really an "Emerald Lounge" - similar to AKL "F".

It's a dump. Power is hard to find, it gets unbearably hot on a sunny afternoon, the drinks fridge is about 30 cm wide and has less options than the QP, no descent view, etc.

The AKL F doesn't "feel" cramped however IMHO the BNE one does.

Poor BNE folk, now i understand why you all route through SYD to fly internationally... :p

Many people I see in the j lounge really shouldn't be eating pizza, cheese toasties or mac & cheese

And in jest there is a huge amount of truth. However, sometimes it can be quite hard to eat a healthy meal in the J lounge/QP. I find breakfast to be the easiest with lots of cut fresh fruit.

I was in the BNE F lounge on Friday. I don't normally fly internationally on Qantas from BNE so it was my first time. It was quite packed with a quite few transiting passengers from QF8. It does have a lovely view of the carpark. The breakfast choices were less than you would get in a Domestic J lounge. I noticed there is nothing saying it is a 'first' lounge for example the door is just frosted glass, while at AKL it does have 'first' on the door.

Stop whining! PER doesn't even have anything remotely resembling and F lounge (it doesn't even have a DOM J lounge ) and the INT J lounge has no view at all. This may, of course, be due to the fact that QF largely overlooks PER when it comes to international flights - something in the order of 13% of all Int pax are carried out of PER by QF, somewhat dragging down their average.

Whether lounge food and drinks are healthy or not could be a whole new topic.

But why not have 1 hot dish in the J-lounges during the afternoon, if it's possible to do in the standard QPs, next door?

It's a bit like this too in Singapore too. The F-lounge might have no hot options during the afternoon, while there can be a couple of choices over in the J-lounge.

Sorry but it's pretty easy with the antipasto selection to create a healthy meal :)
