Hey Guys,

Im looking for somewhere to stay in LA for around 100 - 130 ish a night that clean and in a good area to see the sites

Cheers,

I suggest you try Priceline.com | Cheap Flights, Hotels, and Rental Cars -- Discount Airfare as it will help you save money.

The "sites" in LA are very spread out so you will need a hire car to get to things.

Do your homework before you go - get a list of places and addresses.

Rent a car with Hertz and have the NEVERLOST Gps system in it as it will guide you.

The Wilshire Crest Inn is cheap and fits your budgetary requirements - it is very central - near the LA county Museums and La Brea Tar Pits and Farmers Market:

www.wilshirecrestinn.com

I have stayed there a few years ago. It is basic but adequate for a tourist. Their rate includes continental breakfast and internet.

good luck.

i used Hotwire.com: Discount airfare, hotel reservations, car rentals, vacation packages and cruises last year. All secret hotels, but you do know the area and * rating.

I got a room at the le montrose in WeHo for 105 USd a nite. Large room, few mins walk to satan monica blv or sunset blvd which had buses running along every few mins.

LA has a great bus network. You can get around pretty cheaply on it. I esp like the fact the bus tells you where you are, and what the next stop will be.

I recmmend the Go Los Angeles Card: Los Angeles Attractions, Tours, and Things To Do from Smart Destinations as it will save u a lot of money.

I swear by the Celebrity Hotel in Hollywood (if that's where you want to go).

Hollywood Celebrity Hotel - Welcome

Rooms are basic but large. They have a nice suite with a kitchen, living room and seperate bedroom which is a little above the range you suggested, however the standard rooms are just fine and fall into that price bracket.

Location is excellent, right behind the Hollywood/Highland centre and they have free onsite parking which is a big plus (although you won't fit a Surburban in there). Staff can't do enough to help which is a nice change for LA.

You definitely need a car in Los Angeles. The bus system is very limited and it only takes you to a few spots. You'll hate LA if you try to use the bus system.

Best place to stay is Santa Monica but Venice or Marina del Rey are a little cheaper and you'll still be in an awesome location near the beach and close to many attractions (as close as you can be because everything is several kilometers away in LA).

If you like nightlife you can stay in west Hollywood but I prefer to stay near the beach and drive at night to Hollywood.

Hotwire is the best site to find the lowest prices of hotels. You won't be able to know which hotel you are going to before you pay but you'll know the stars rating and the location. I never had a bad experience.

Thanks guys i ended up booking a room at the Holiday Inn Express Hollywood Walk of Fame.

I too am staying at Holiday Inn Walk of Fame. I check in 24 August for 4 nights and paying about $600 from memory.

Booked via Priceline for May & June 2010 & got Sheraton Gateway. $us65 plus per night runs out as $81.87 all in per night.

Just an update of our 1 night stay at Sheraton Gateway. Free shuttle worked like a charm & driver was not particularly interested in looking for a tip. Checkin was quick, room on 5th floor with bit of a view of planes making approach. Pretty stuffed from flight and needed a walk so wandered and got subway 200m up the road. Bar snacks & steak restaurant available onsite. Had a beer & wine at bar without feeling ripped off. Wakeup call was on time, bathroom no worries. Bit of a squash in the 7.15am free shuttle but appreciated not having to get off at terminal 1 where long line was well out on footpath-maybe some status runs starting.

Can you tell me which direction it is to the subway as you said it was very close to your hotel.

Walk out hotel & turn right back towards the airport on the main road and subway is on the right (same side of road just on the edge of a paid parking lot). Has a reasobable sized sign

Thought I would provide another review of the Sheraton Gateway as we used more of the facilities on our return stay
Sheraton Gateway Los Angeles.
Another Priceline stay and at $80 all up and our flight not leaving until 10.20pm we opted to pay for 2 nights so we could suit ourselves, catch some sleep in the afternoon and then catch the free shuttle to the airport around 7pm. At check in we mentioned we would be booking out early & we were given free in-room wifi. Room on 10th floor & facing the W Century Blvd –good view across to a runway. Not a lot of aircraft noise, big room with king bed & again a good shower. We made more use of the facilities this time & enjoyed a great pasta & salmon dish for dinner at the bar. Bar staff were excellent & were looking forward to the day off tomorrow & watching Mexico play in the World Cup. Again a good nights sleep on a very comfortable bed. Next day we spent time around the pool & spa area just outside the bar area. Good to have an outdoor pool & temperature was good for a lazy swim, there were only about 3 others in the pool at any time & despite some plane noise it was a relaxing time with background noise of a local music radio station. Topped off by a cold beer & Angus burger & club sandwich for lunch. Had a nap, shower, paid our incidentals bill with no wait at checkout & walked straight onto the courtesy shuttle.

I'm heading to LA at the end of September and had been looking to book a hotel, but to get something where the reviews on trip advisor wont scare you, is pretty expensive.

I found a web site Vacation rentals, private rooms, sublets by the night - Accommodations on Airbnb which has lots of apartment rentals through the USA, Mexico and some south american countries.

I was able to get a WeHo 1 bedroom apartment with free WiFi and parking for $80 a night, with a $50 cleaning charge on top. Considering how it's not easy to get a hotel for < $100 in LA i thought this was quite a good deal.

Have you tried Expedia Australian version as you do not lose out on a $ conversion by paying in $AUS.Always read the reviews and do not go East LA to save money.
Close to the beach can get expensive.
