I'm looking for some help to find a well located, comfortable and clean hotel around the spanish steps area in Rome.

There are so many little hotels but it's hard to separate the possibly poor ones from the ok looking at the websites and online reviews, so hoping for some first hand recommendations!

I need a triple room just for one night in early April, budget is up to about 270 EUR (400AUD).

We only have 1 night/2 days hence wanting it to be really central so we can walk out the door and start seeing the sights!

Really appreciate anyone's recommendation! If there are any great bar or restaurant recommendations as well I'd love to hear those too :)

Thanks!

Hilton Garden inn has good location and cost around €270 per night for three adults.

Any reason you particularly want to be near the Spanish Steps? We found the area round Piazza Navona more to our liking and an easy walk to many sights. Have stayed in a couple of hotels in the area - Albergo Del Senato was great but not sure if they have triple rooms, Hotel Pantheon gets good write ups. We also stayed at the Navona Gallery and Suites which was very good.
