Hotel Mercure Paris Terminus Nord. I recommend it for the convenience and because I'm an Accor member. That aside, it's a pretty vanilla 3.5* international hotel.

Agree.

It is just opposite the station (though reception is accessed just around the corner).

I stayed there for 2 nights in 2016 as we caught the train from the CDG airport and then wanted to leave Paris from the Gare de L'Ést which is very close too (10 minutes walk). Close to them , but also very easy to access all the main sights of Paris too.

We arrived at 8am. Left our bags and then walked down to the Seine to look around, have lunch etc. Long walk, but got us used to the time zone.

There is a Velib station directly opposite if you want a cycle down to the Seine river or other sights. Day 2 we used the bike to go to Eiffel Tower and back. Tip> just swap bikes at various stations within the minimum time period and the cost is very little. Tip 2. There tends to be no bikes at the most popular tourist sights.

There are plenty or restaurants and mini-marts nearby.

I find that in France that the Accor Group have a lot of good discount specials on their properties. So keep your eye out and become a member if your are not already.

And you can see how close the hotel is to the station.

This pic was taken through the open window of our hotel room..

Thanks, yes we are members of Accor so will watch their deals. Have used the bikes several times, brilliant way to see Paris. After a month in France, Paris this time is only an overnight at the end of the trip. So won't be in the room except to have a few hours sleep. Cheers.
