Another newbie to the forum (actually have been a spectator for a year or so).

Anyway, I wondering what experience members of the forum have had with regards to hotels and QFF points.

I always seem to have to fax copies of hotel receipts to QFF because the hotels always seem to forget about allocating points.

It is almost to the point of being a complete loser, asking the hotel staff on checkout "Now you've got my QFF No???" about a dozen times.

Are there hotel chains that process points quicker than others, and are there some as I've experienced that seem to forget about points at all.

Cheers

Given I stay mostly at SPG or Hiltons, I don't seem to have too many troubles with not getting the FF card entered. I always ensure it's there when I book then hand-over my 3 cards (FF, CC and Hotel card) when I check-in.

The only trouble I've had is with The Grace Hotel (pseudo Hilton Honors member whilst the SYD Hilton continually delays it's never-ending saga of re-opening). But I had such a poor stay there that they have lost my business. With my Hilton double dipping, I mostly find they have posted within 2-3 weeks - either by checking online through my Hilton or QFF accounts. With Sheraton, it tends to be same timeframe.

I've tended to find with the smaller ones (ones I occasionally or rarely stay with, certainly not enough to obtain any benefits), it does also depend on the frequency of them transferring the FF data in their database to QF for crediting. Miss the cut-off and you'll be placed in the next allocation, so I've been told. Some do it monthly, some quarterly I believe.

If I don't get the points after 30 days, I have already scanned the Invoice into my computer and simply email it to QFF. I suppose being Plat helps, because it tends to arrive in my account within 3-5 days. Never had to chase up QFF. Have a good contact there who looks after me (it helps that I have met them in my travels).

I'm a Marriott member and I get (in the Renaissance hotels) 5 QFF points per US$1 I spend.

Just join them for free at www.mariott.com and read the terms and conditions.

I got this when I was working in Hong Kong.

Regards
Daniel

I tend to post hotels to other FFPs as usually can get more miles.

That said, most times it works okay for me except as noted Grace in Sydney and one month last year Hilton lost my whole batch of 6 stays for the month.

Note some hotels do batch process so depending on when your stay is can take a long time to come through.

I have rarely had a problem and have only had to contact Qantas about missing hotel points on one or two occasions over many years. However, some do take a LONG time to post, sometimes up to 4 months.

These days I mostly use Hiltons and take the extra Hilton base points in place of the QF points (spreeading my investment since I have lots of QF points in the bank).

Normally I stay at Best Western for leisure travel and never have a problem with them. Otherwise I don't use hotels for FF points because I have status with the hotels I stay in for business.

Mostly Best Western, although not as good as the 4 or 5 star hotels is good for leisure travel and getting points.

I have had a very bad experience with the Stamford in Melbourne, where I booked using my FF number, gave it again at check-in and specifically asked about it on checout and was assured the points would be credited.

After six weeks when I chased them up I was fobbed off. I have now spoken to three different people each of whom has given me a completely different reason why they "don't" give points. None of these "policies" appear either on their site or the QFF site and I was not told about any of them when I booked and gave my QFF no, checked in, again goving the number, or when I checked out and asked and was told the points would be credited.

On each occasion I have been promised that a manager would call me back, and no one ever has.

I'm wondering whether it's worth making a complaint to Fair Trading or bringing a small debt action. At any event I will never stay at a Stamford again and I won't have any of my staff stay there either.

Make sure that the Stamford is aware of your action by sending an email to management and not just a complaint to the fob off merchants.

I gave up on the Stamford hotels about 4 or 5 years ago. Back then they used to consistently post points 4-5 months after the say! One stay went almost 6 months before posting. They always did eventually post, but really late.

I got sick of trying to keep track of whether hotel points had been posted to my account or not, so now I always send a copy of my hotel invoice to the QFF Service Centre. The points are always posted within 10 days or so.

Add me to the list of QFFs, who send their hotel receipts to the QFF Service Centre.

I've found, that the ACCOR group of hotels have certain rates that do not qualify for QFF points.... and certainly anything close to a 'cheap' night won't get any points.

This is probably why the hotel doesn't send the points off automatically after check out.... because you aren't supposed to get any!

However, even being told "no way" by the hotel on ckeck in.... I've sent the receipt to QFF SS later, and have been granted the points.

regards,
