Hotels in Bruges

After reading a trip report on AFF several years ago on Santorini, we booked the accommodation mentioned in that report and were not disappointed so I thought I would ask about Bruges.
Does anybody have any hotel suggestions for Bruges? We will be travelling there in September with two other couples and would like to stay on a canal and reasonably close to the train station and as it's at the end of our trip we would like to stay somewhere really nice just to finish off our holiday.

I don't have a recommendation but I know that there are not a lot of hotels. I looked a few years ago and just decided to do a day tour from Brussels. It is 1 hour on the train. Bruges is beautiful but I wouldn't be planning to spend many days there.

We stayed at Crowne Plaza Bruges about 8 years ago. The location was fantastic and it was a great hotel stay.

I booked Hotel de Orangerie for a stay next month. its on the canal, but not near the railway station. I'm arriving by train, so looked near that, but didn't fancy what i found. Unless something is within a block of the exit, I figure I'll need a taxi anyway (I'll have a checked case and a carry on), so the need to be close to the station fell away. This hotel is a bit on the expensive side, but I've tagged Bruges as one of my 'nice stops' (as opposed to most other places in Europe where it will be an Ibis!!)

Booking.com tells me that there are 2 regular-type hotels right at the station - an Ibis and a Radisson Blu.

The station is a 20 minute walk from the main square you don't want to stay there. There is a regular bus though.

Hotel Bourgoensch Hof
in September last year and were very impressed. On the canal and only 200 metres from the centre. Very reasonably priced

Have stayed at at the Hotel de Orangerie back in June 2015 and it was excellent.
We had also tagged Bruges as one of our better stops so were prepared to shell out a bit more for it. We booked direct with the hotel and decided to splash out and book a Canal view room and so glad we did. Very close to the centre of town but it was so peaceful and quiet. Staff were wonderful and the high teas out on the deck were simply wonderful. If we ever return to Bruges I’d definitely stay there again

We were booked at the Grand Hotel Casselbergh ( we were driving, so parking was important) for one night in April, 2018. Four nights before our arrival, I received an email to let us know we were upgraded to their 5* sister hotel, Hotel Dukes Palace. We had booked a Junior Suite with breakfast included, and a rollaway bed, for EUR 423.
We received a Junior Suite in the Dukes Palace. It was AMAZING after some of the hotels we'd stayed in during that trip. Definitely a highlight! Huge bathroom, plenty of space in our main room, wonderful service. Drinks in the garden in the evening was just lovely. The breakfast buffet included hunks (gold ingot size) of I think it Callebaut chocolate - in white, milk, and dark. Shave it yourself to add to your brekky.

Highly recommend Dukes Palace for a very nice stay. Close walk to the main square, though slightly confusing to find its car park - if driving, you don't go to the main entrance.

Thank you everyone for your suggestions.
After much deliberation between 3 couples we have booked Hotel de Orangerie, Dukes Palace and the Callebaut Chocolate was a real consideration too. But the High Teas on the deck won out and the boys in our group are also pleased there is a brewery right next door.

We have not stayed here, but after meeting an engaging local on the bus from the Park and Ride, we were taken to the Crowne Plaza, where there are some interesting excavations, uncovered during the building of the hotel.
