How clean are Hertz Commercial rentals cars? I've never hired from them before but found they are cheaper than getting a standard hertz rental.
I need a SUV or 4x4 to do a 10day road trip and here are the pricing that came back.
Hertz
- Compact SUV (Nissan Qashqai) : $635
- Intermediate SUV (Nissan Xtrail): $800
- 4x4 Pajero/Prado : $1,600

Hertz Commercial 4x4 & Trucks
- 4WD Dual Cab Ute with Canopy (Group Y) probably a Hilux : $688

Thinking of going down the path of the dual cab UTE but will the cleanliness be at the same standard as a normal rental car? i'm just thinking of all the tradies using it before.

Otherwise i'll get the Compact SUV and hope for an upgrade

I have just had to hires from Hertz trucks in Adelaide - first one was a Mercedes van and the other was a Toyota Hiace. In both cases they were spotless the same as I would expect a hire car to be (although often when it's busy you know that a hire car hasn't been given a thorough clean)

Thanks @VPS. might try the Dual Cab Ute with Canopy and see how it goes.
Or get the compact SUV and pray for an upgrade.

Cleanliness should not really be an issue.

You have not said what you want it for?

Particularly as you two preferred options are chalk and cheese.

Compact SUV will be more comfortable and cheaper to run. But will carry a lot less.
  • Payload of a medium SUV will be 400-500 kg (Payload by the way includes passengers, fuel above 10 litres, your luggage, camping gear etc).
  • Compact even less

Modern dual cabs are now quite ok in the back. How many in your partly?
  • Payload is also about a tonne all up
  • The volume of the canopy will be much greater than the SUV

I don't own a car now days and get by driving the missus suzuki swift around the city - it's great on fuel. However since we are going on a road trip/camping towards the south coast NSW and then to Mt Kosziosko I thought it would be safer your have a bigger car.
Space is not really an issue, I think we can throw most things in my mates ute.
There will be four of us going in two cars.

Last time I hired one of their commercial vehicles, it was in an appalling state.
