This is one of a four polls I am posting here to see if we can gauge our own community perspective on the thoughts on this somewhat controversial topic.

Please answer the question honestly, noting that some of these polls are similar but have a distinct difference. The poll questions in total are:

1. Do you think the Qantas sale should go ahead?

2. Do you think the Qantas sale will go ahead?

3. Do you think the sale of Qantas will be good for Qantas FF members? (this poll)

4. Do you think the sale of Qantas is against the Australian National Interest?

There has already been a great deal of discussion about these topics in various threads, so please don't turn these polls into forum to try to convince others to agree with your views or opinions. Feel free to just answer the poll questions and keep the expression of personal opinions to the other existing threads.

Please feel free to post questions here relating to any clarification you may require before answering the polls.

Re: do you think the sale of Qantas will be good for Qantas FF members?

What timeframe are you talking about? Answer could be different in short or medium term. As for long term, in the end we are all dead!

Note that I have changed this poll to include a 4th option. Anyone who voted previously will need to vote again in this fresh question.

How about we look at the term being bandied around for the re-float of Qantas in about 5 years time. So look at how they will be affected over the next 5 years.

Okay just to be clear - the 5 year timeframe does or doesn't include what any onward buyer (if any) might do? I vote does not.

Another thought - is this QFF members in general or just how it affects me personally? Again could be 2 different things.

Lets keep it personal  and to the timeframe that it is (or may be) owned by APA.

Understand. Also remember looking at the impact. So not comparing with what QFF looks like today but what it would change to regardless of sale (surely no one is naive enough to think no further enhancements over the next 5 years, indeed we could well be "due" for one).

There will be changes to the FF scheme, but these will happen whether the sale takes place or not.

Yes, he is closing in on that. To think I was running neck and neck with him at one point in time

Not really, 'twas just a bump as the polls were disappearing off new/today's posts.

I threw a little bablefish into it for the boards' amusement, rather than simply posting "BUMP". :p

I was having dinner with friends last night and one of them said that she had heard from someone in the know that if the sale goes ahead that QFF points will be devalued to about 1/3 of what they are today. She was looking at spending her 400k points as quickly as possible..

I didn't get her source so of course it could be wrong. as so many of those people in the know often are. But still worth a post to see what people think..

I have no doubt in my mind that if the Qantas sale goes ahead the FFP will be devalued. It may not happen immediately but I think it will happen within the first 12 months.

How much will it be devalued? Well that really depends on how much the new owners want to increase their profit margin. I would not be surprised to see an expiry date, similar to SQ Kris Flyer, applied on FF points earned.

I don't think they will de-value points in a big hurry, but if they do simple option is to use them and change to somebody different, eg AA.
If there was a significant change i would really consider the *A option given you only need 50k miles a year in SQ to get lounge access. (50k miles is really only a couple of erope trips in 1 year)

Lol. Insider trading of points :D

I think the competitive landscape is such that Qantas can't devalue by 1/3. Maybe a smaller amount.

Still with AA and other options, I'm not overly worried about devaluation.

A 2/3 devaluation in short time period? I find that hard to believe. As much as QFF has tended to devalue over time, there is a limit to how much worse value they can be compared to their competition. That is even more the case now DJ has velocity.

Bring it on, I say. Then the jump to AA will be a simple justification for all
