We arrived around 7:50pm. Directed to reception to check-in. There they took photocopies of our passports and walked us to the club lounge to continue check-in. Cold towel and some non-alcoholic drink provided. No mention of an upgrade and realise none received. I questioned this and was told hotel is fully booked. I called them out on this as there were many suites available to be booked as well as upgrade rooms (but with two single beds). They at first insisted fully booked. So I asked what would happen if I booked a suite right now? Where would I sleep. Then told they don't upgrade to suites (and still insisted they were fully booked).

Was told I could pay the difference between the highest non-suite room (which they would have upgraded me to) and the cost of a suite. Figured that could be alright. They suggested about ~$700. I thought they meant for the remaining 5 nights but no, per night! I told the that's a joke. I could literally book a suite not for that cost. It makes no sense!

As this point I was just annoyed and wanted my room. So I said don't worry, we'll just take the room we booked. At this point they said they can move us the following day to a room with plunge pool or lagoon access. I said thank you, that would be great. However, still very annoyed at the blatant lie about availability and somehow trying to palm off the last minute suite rate as the difference in cost between the highest non-suite and a suite (should be under $100.

All non-suite rooms are actually identical in terms if size and layout. I suspect the call the highest floor (level 4) the ocean view rooms. Ground floor have lagoon access on the resort facing side and suspect the other side has the plunge pools.

Breakfast is available in either the lounge or main restaurant. Free drink only available at the lobby bar (selection of Bali style coughtails and mocktails, Bintang not an option :o).  Lounge has tea and cakes 3pm to 5pm and drinks and canapes from 5:3pm to 7:30pm (including a selection of coughtails and wine (wasn't game to try it)).

Got to move to the pool access room around midday the next day. It's done very well in terms of maintaining privacy. Some pics below. If folks want more info/pics of the resort let me know and I'll post some.

Now this greeted us in our original room. I do wonder if this might have been the reason they didn't want us to change rooms. I don't know if the bit of fruit and piece of cake was related to the anniversary welcome or the intended welcome gift. We'll never know!
