I optimistically thought I could get in early and use our QFF to fly Melbourne to Sunshine Coast on the first day of school holidays in September 2011. Turns out this route is unavailable using QFF for a month over this time. Fair enough.

So looking at paid flights, only Jetstar fly this route directly. On the QFF website it says there are fares available for $117, so I go to book and get routed to the Jetstar site. Here it says that all flights for that day, and the 3 days either side are Sold Out. I assume this means they haven't listed them for sale yet. On the Jetstar site, it has these dates available for booking in the drop down box, just doesn't have any flights available.

Does anyone know how far in advance Jetstar open up their flights please?

Thanks

Today you can book JQi as fa in advance as Sept 16th 2011 and Sept 15th for domestic.

That tells me that booking for JQ are available at ~11 months out or 335 days.

Contrast the with Qantas who are today sellng seats as late as Oct 3rd or 353 days in advance.

Even if they where for sale I'd wait a few months prior to booking, as it is more than likely that there would a sale between now and Sept 2011 which would nab very cheap tickets.

If no sales have been called a month or two from travel, then book your tickets. You should still be able to get cheap fares.

Airlines usually leave out the mid year school holidays, about the only time you get sales covering school holidays in the past are late Jan.
