I'm staying a couple of nights in Chicago Intercontinental with my partner, and I'm also meeting my business partner, whos flying in from YVR.

I am Diamond Elite Ambassador, so my room will get the breakfast amenity, room upgrade, and late checkout.

If I book my business partner's room when I book my room, does the second room get any status benefits?

I assume they won't get breakfast, but is it possible they will upgrade the second room with mine so we are close to each other? Or would I need to request that? I would like us to at least be on the same floor.

Appreciate any feedback from those that have experience doing this with IHG status.

Unfortunately it is up to the individual hotel so no definite answer.
So I have had the experience where the second room gets nada though I get the points which don't count towards status. Also on 1 occasion the second room got full benefits including brekkie.
You can put in the notes for rooms to be close together which should be the same floor.

Under the rules, the upgrade is for the Members personal room, although they may still be able to get you on the same floor. Whether they upgrade the second room or not, you'd be best off requesting such.
As for breakfast, it applies to the Member, and one guest registered to the same room.

So, by the rules, it applies to the members room. Hotels may provide more, but that is up to the hotel.

Thanks @drron and @oz_mark. That's what I assumed. I'll request our rooms are close to each other and see if anything else is offered (but won't hold my breath)
