Hi there

I'm going to pass 700 SC and hit gold on a flight to Japan on November 15th...
As next month I will be leaving on a RTW trip on Dec 14th, do you guys think I'm likely to receive the new card before my RTW trip? Reason why I'm asking it will include 3 legs on AA and I understand the chance of getting into their lounges without showing an actual card is pretty slim... :(

Thanks
MP

Your AA boarding pass will show your status on it - I have never been asked to show my card at Las Angeles or Chicago - keep a QF boarding pass showing the new Gold status just in case - good luck

I would reword that to say that your AA boarding pass should show your status on it. (I find this is the case only about 50% of the time) As well as keeping a QF boarding pass you could print a copy of your summary page from Qantas dot com as a backup.

A few days before my anniversary I cracked Gold after being Silver for the past year. I'd already received a new silver card months ago with the first 'new' cards for frequent PER travellers. Just as I hit Gold I received the new Silver pack with all the tags etc. Some three weeks later I still haven't had any acknowledgment of my Gold status except online (where it counts) so it shows up on my boarding passes.
Today I received another letter telling me they'd sent me a Silver kit recently. They included a complimentary QC pass expiring Jan 2012. Somewhere along the line (maybe when I cracked Silver?) I received another one of these - expiring August 2011.
But of course I've been a paying QC member the past 18 months!

I've got a current QC card and two PS cards with the new chip! No SG card yet though!

Seems the left hand...

I had no issue with AA lounge access when qualifying Gold two days before my next AA flight.

YMMV.

Your issue is more likely to be BA than AA.

Yeah. I have heard there’s a QF staff member in an office near the BA lounges in LHR so perhaps if they were there they could confirm your access, but otherwise it’s likely to be a BA lounge no go zone.

Yes there is a QF Host in the First Lounge at T3. They have a little office just behind the dragons.
