Hi people,

I cancelled a JASA around the 13th of June and had asked for the points to be refunded into my account. The lady said that was no problem at all but yet I still haven't seen them yet.

I've rang about 2 times asking about them and have been told that they will be refunded soon.

I'm just sick of waiting though, I have another JASA that I need to book with these points that will come in.

Would it just be easier to talk to someone on the Frequent Flyer hotline, can they refund this stuff on the spot or do you usually have to wait this long, the lady originally told me they will be back in my account in 7-10 days.

Thanks!

It took my son 3 calls to get his 159k FASA refunded. Keep your cool and work your negotiating skills to the max!

I have been getting them 3 weeks after they were cancelled, but in each case they were only after a call was made to the Platinum Desk.

I've been waiting for a refund of 120k points since approx. 20 May. I've made a couple of calls to Qantas and keep getting the BS that the points should be in my account tomorrow.

Last call I made was on 24 June at which time I was told that the cancellation had been processed that day as I had only just cancelled the flight on 23 June. As I pointed out to them my flight was actually for 9 June so that was not likely.

I was originally told that it would take 12 working days. I was told on 1 July the points would be returned to my account overnight but no sign so far. Guess I am going to have to call them again.

Got them back today! Looks like someones working on the weekend haha. So took just under a month, I didn't end up ringing again so finally happy with the outcome.

Digging up this old thread rather than starting a new one. I'm wondering if anyone can comment on the recent timeframes for points to be refunded, ie/ have they been coming through more quickly than was being experienced in 2011?

I am thinking of cancelling a FASA in Aug from JNB - SYD and rebooking it to take advantage of the double SC promo. Seats are currently still available to rebook, however I won't have enough points to do this straight away and will be relying on the refunded points to be able to rebook. I don't want to be waiting 4 weeks or more for the points to come back to me in case the ASAs disappear.

I did a refund in February, it didn't come through within 3 days, so I called again (Pratnum desk) :P and next day they were in.

Thanks spentan. Was that a domestic or international ASA? I'm concerned that as my FASA was ticketed in South Africa, it will take even longer than I fear.

It was a dom JASA, CBR-SYD-PER-SYD-CBR.

Do you have any kind of status? Even if not, I'm sure they can tell you how long it'll take. Shouldn't be more than a couple of days really.

I just cancelled an old intl Classic Award to rebook using ASA to take full advantage of the double SC promotion. I also need to do a status run using those points so better not take months!

Luckily I can be persistent and call them every few hours if i dont see it within a few weeks :p

Be careful, that award seat might not reappear.

If you want to rebook in such circumstance, get your new booking ticketed before cancelling the old one/

I cancelled two JASA in Feb (both were combo Dom & Int) one was instant refund of points the other took a week. Both were cancelled on the same day, on the same phone call by the same QF agent:confused:

I posted this below in the other thread:
An old thread but new Q. I cancelled a JASA yesterday over the phone, and was told I would get all my points and cash component back...BUT it could take 6-8 weeks:shock:. When I log into my QF account now, I can still see the booking there. Is this the normal process?

Because I'm an impatient bugger, I rang the premium desk just then, who in turn rang ticketing and the awards desk; may get the cash and points back in the next 24 hours...:p Edit: And 30 minutes after the call, the points are now back in my account!! Nice one Qantas:cool:

I cancelled my JASA the week before last to take advantage of double status promo. I just asked that i have the points back in my account to make another booking (rang during business hours) and had the points credited in my account within half an hour.

If you ask nicely, most agents will offer to call you back once they've been credited by the reservations team - have had this every time I've asked for them credited back.
