Hi all

So as a distraction from working out how to tell my wife I am going to NZ, home for 36 hours and then going to JED I collated my ULQ (upgrade luckiness quotient) based on my past three years of travel - the period when I have done most QF flying and most DOM flying.

ULQ is calculated by (number of upgrades/number of flights NOT in the highest cabin)*100 [I am trying to work out a way to factor in the relative frequency of

Based on table below my ULQ on all carriers is 1.16%. QF specific - 1.22% - 0 on all other carriers

Columns are: Carrier, Highest cabin No or Yes

Code:
Crr	No	Yes	Grand Total
AA	1	2	3
BA	2	3	5
CX	1	15	16
JQ	-	2	2
LA	-	1	1
QF	82	20	102
RJ	-	2	2

I expect that there are a number of players here with a much higher ULQ...

I also think the ULQ will vary greatly between DOM and INT travellers.

Op-ups, or upgrades?

Assuming op-ups, I'm about 25% trans-tasman (QF) and 0% on any other route :)

QF ULQ including grounding related apology 2.5%. Without the apology 0.6%.

DJ ULQ 1.8%

JQ and TT?

My QF ULQ it is just on 1.136
With 2 upgrades over 176 flights.
1 Domestic (After the QF grounding - "we love you long time J class upgrade MEL/SYD, we normally wouldn't do it, so don't get comfortable this far up the front you peasant")
1 International LAX-MEL up to PE.

My DJ ULQ is just on 16.66
With 1 upgrade over 6 flights.

My J* ULQ is 0
With 0 Upgrades over 12 Flights

My AA ULQ is also 0
With 0 Upgrades over 14 Flights (6 in F)

Qantas International: 2/6 (2/2 since becoming QFF Silver)

Qantas Domestic and every other carrier: 0/eleventy-billion

Once on BA out of 138 flights and that was because my partner, who works for BA, pulled strings as we were flying together.

VA - 5 in last two months
UA - 3 x Y+ to J | 4 x J to F
LH - 2 x J to F
QF - 0
MALEV - 2
AN - dozens but flew almost every second day for two years. Mostly on 767 SYD-MEL and VV.

Once on a flight Brisbane to Cairns via Hamilton Island had the whole plane to myself - on a positioning flight Hamilton Island to Cairns. That was the best upgrade I can think of. The Brisbane to Hamilton Island sector was close to full - imagine my surprise when I reboarded and I was the only passenger. Way cool !! Back in those days one could go to the coughpit so that is where I ended up in the jump seat all the way to the gate at Cairns.
