Hey guys,

Just curious.... how many SCs from SYD to LHR? via AUH on J??

Is it 120+160 or 200 one way?

Thanks :)

I'm flying MEL-AUH-LON in May and had wondered the same thing. The velocity rules say that all sectors on international flights are counted unlike domestic routes. Thus it should be 280 one way.

International are counted as individual sectors.

SYD-AUH is one sector
AUH-LHR is another sector

sweet as thanks :) ... now just gotta get enough eligible sectors flown.....

oh and a slightly unrelated Question....

Can you pool flight sectors? or just points..................:?:

Velocity flight sectors do not take effect until August this year so dont worry about them.

Both status credits and points can be pooled, however, flight sectors are not. However, it should be noted that a MEL-LON-MEL flight will count as 4 sectors instead of 2.

oh really? so you can qualify based only on SC as long as you get to the relevant level before august? coz the sections required section is visible on my account.

Not flying VA or DJ tho to LHR ... flying MAS.

Nice :)

^Eligible Sectors will be visible in your account from 25 August 2011, however Velocity will not use them as a part of the assessment method for upgrading or maintaining your membership level until 25 August 2012. An Eligible Sector is a flown journey from an origin to a destination on a Virgin Australia booking (DJ or VA Flight number).

For some reason I thought it was 200 SC's each way for MEL-LHR return. I like the sound of 280 SC's each way. :)

I was basing my calculations in EY or VA. I don't travel MH so cannot comment on their SC earning.

dont they all earn the same way? and you do get different flight numbers... so hopefully.

Em, not sure about short haul international. Would need to clarify that.

Short-haul International if bought on a DJ flight code is calculated origin to destination. If on a NZ code - you earn per sector.

Have been corrected - any DJ-coded itinerary that is not wholly within Australia earns sector by sector.

As an aside, for anyone that would be willing to PM me details ... I'm most curious to see an actual itinerary that was booked on a DJ code with both domestic and international sectors (something like MEL-SYD-AKL-SYD-MEL or similar would be great), along with exactly what credited to your Velocity account. Anyone? :)

Hmmm...

So this would mean for my upcoming USA trip on VA and Delta it would earn SC per sector as its Long Haul international?

The routings are as follows

BNE - MEL - LAX - MCO

MCO - ATL - LAS

SFO - LAX - BNE

I assumed in my other thread that it would be paid as BNE- MCO and SFO to BNE on the long haul parts...

??

It should do, yes. I've seen your other post on how things were ultimately booked, but could you post what flight numbers you're booked on, along with fare classes? It should have all of that on your e-ticket(s). From there I can tell you what you ought to earn :)

Give me 5, I will bring them up and post in the other thread.

This could be a nice surprise LOL...

Can you use points to book tickets for relatives e.g. sister in law thats not in the account/pooling?
