How much baggage allowance should I expect? (Jetstar/QF same PNR)

I have a flight from ZQN-AKL-BNE coming up. First leg is JQ economy, next is QF J. As usual Qantas who O booked with is vague but I do have 35kg approx checked baggage and would really rather avoid fees, but at least avoid "at the airport" fees.

My understanding is that as QF is the international sector it should take precedence and I should get the baggage allowance for that (60kg as WP) for my JQ flight. Any thoughts?

Thanks

As Qantas is the most significant carrier, you'll get the QF J allowance of 40kg on both flights including the Jetstar service. You can confirm this by getting the Jetstar booking reference and opening up the booking on the Jetstar website. The Qantas also applies the oversize fee wavier automatically on Jetstar so you may see 40kg allowance plus an oversize piece in the booking.

Correct however status benefits for baggage never apply to Jetstar operated services. Technically you have a ticketed 40kg allowance on both flights however on the QF operated flight an extra 20kg applies meaning from ZQN-AKL you can only check 40kg but on the AKL-BNE you can check 60kg.

As mentioned by encryptededdy JQ domestic flights don't connect so when you check in at ZQN your bag and boarding passes will only be as far as Auckland, upon arrival in Auckland you'll need to collect your luggage from the baggage claim and either walk or catch the shuttle bus to the International terminal before checking in with Qantas.
