Hi all, Have a BEST FLIGHT PRICE GUARANTEE flight booked.
What's the cost if you want to bring the date forward?
Call them and discuss?
Set fee or negotiable?

It depends totally on what fare you bought. We purchased the Bus Max fare SYD - HNL and was able to completely change dates, change from 2 one way tickets to one return ticket as well as change names, for no fee. I was stunned at how helpful they were when I rang.

Goodness rang em.... After fifteen checking questions got Manila and informed set price $80 PLUS the difference of flight price..... EXTORTION!

It would depend on a few things:

a) was it booked through the JQ site (not as a QF codeshare flight thorugh QF)?
b) if booked through JQ did you pay the plus bundle to be able to make changes
c) it would depend if prices have increased and by how much on the route

I've changed two JQ bookings one whY & one J. The economy one BNE/HNL had a plus bundle booked and we moved forward from April to March which I did myself on the JQ site and the additional cost was approx AUD29.00 pp total. I did query ring the call centre to ask about something and they were quoting me more money and trying to get me to lock in the changes then and there. When I told them I could do it much cheaper myself ie AUD58.00 they were telling me that the website was wrong and that would AUD58.00 was per person (wrong) despite the fact they still wanted more than twice that (IIRC AUD145.00). So be aware and try and DIY via the website.

The Star Class booking MEL/BKK, again with a bundle, we pushed back from April to October for zero adcoll ie free.

Here I'm thinking take earlier flight they may want my seat as a Friday but nope set price... No negotiation..... Reduction to make win win

So you price matched a flight and are not happy that the conditions are quite inflexible and expensive to change?

Were you changing actual days or trying to go earlier in the day on a Friday?

The terms of the price match are pretty clear, once you change the flight, the price match terms no longer apply. Whether that is right or wrong is beside the point.

Cfwm correct.... Just illogical that could benefit Jetstar if they allowed me to take up an earlier flight that was less capacity, a couple of days in advance!
Without penalty......
Yes I know that would go against the policy of get every single dollar out of the customer at any opportunity.... Furthermore double dip for the airline is a top priority.

Let's leave yield management to JQ, shall we....

Maybe J* passengers don't book Friday flights - so your change of day means nothing to them?

Why expect anything different from Jetstar?

By the way Qantas would do the same on a red e-deal except change fee is $88?

Actually it just dawned on me they will fill the plane with freight which make more dollars and cents than a persons bun on seat doh!

Any flow forward decisions are generally made locally and are are done at the airport - not via reservations.

Whilst in such situations they may move pax on all fare types to earlier flights that same day where available, if I understand your post correctly you're asking to be moved a day or so earlier?

To call it a win/win solution you'd need to know the exact loadings of both the JQ flights to make the assumption moving you would also benefit JQ.

Correct again but considering the pricing is cheaper earlier in the week it is fair to say the loadings are less..... I'm very experienced on the day bumping forward on another carrier "on the day flights"

I'm finding it hard to agree with the comments here.

As i posted in another thread yesterday, JQ brilliantly price beat the TigerAir sales from MEL-DPS. For the same dates JQ was asking ~$700 return, Tiger wanted $234.

JQ matched and beat, coming to $211 round-trip.

And with them matching that price, I wouldn't expect to be able to be able to change flights either, without paying the difference in fare and any change fees.

Credit where it's due - for price beat guarantees, JQ does an excellent job!

When you know the true value of a flight.... Even best price is a rip off\laugh!
