How much to spend on a Status Run

This membership year, which ends in August a planned trip was delayed to next membership year and for the first time ever I did a Status Run (Melbourne-Sydney and back).

The 20 points earned got me to 600 points and another year of Gold.

The $300 it cost really annoyed me, but how much would other members pay in fares to remain Gold?

$300 for another year of QF and OW lounge access is OK. QF club is QF only and not OW.
And re-qualification (600 SC) is less than the full Gold qualification (700 SC) next year
Before JQ changed the bundles some JQ fares had low $ per SC.
The cheapest fares are not always the best $ per SC.
