How Often Are QFF Flights Changed?

Hi All,

Hubby and I are travelling on our first big overseas holiday to the USA in August this year, and I have already used some of my QFF points to purchase our ticket to LA.

When originally looking at the flights (about 2 weeks ago), the flight selections were changing nearly every night - but unfortunately we had not had our holidays approved at that stage. Now that we are ready to book, we can only get a flight home via Auckland which uses an extra 16,000 QFF points than coming through Australia (we live in Adelaide) - and the flights now don't seem to be changing.

Does anyone have any idea when FF Flights are changed on the website? Or is it a random thing?

It's not a "random thing", When availability buckets (including awards) for flights are first loaded there is normaly a set number of seats available for award redemption.

In the ordinary course of events, as these seats get redeemed the number of available award redemption seats diminishes.

This initial availability is to be found at about 355 days before the flight; over the remaining 354 days and aside fromredemptions, other business related issues may make more, or less, seats become available at any given time.

If you see seats one day that meet your needs, and are ready to book, do so - lock them in.

Tell me about it. My LHR-DEN flight has come and gone about 22 times in the last week. I am 809 points short and I should just purchase the remainder pof the FF points and book the flight before losing it for good.

It is a mystery to me.... one night last week there were absolutely no flights available from Adelaide to LA or return, the next night there were multiple direct flights on just about any given day (including the 20th September which is when I need the flight), and now there is only 1 flight via Auckland, and multiple flights via Nadi for the date I need - I truly am confused!!

Similar situation here. 830 points short of booking DFW-MEX-DFW...also waiting to transfer points from my girlfriend's account, but we're still waiting on a (very late) 10,000pt bonus from AMEX before doing that. :(

Also got burnt when booking an October HNL-SYD flight. One day, there was a QF flight available. The next (when I finally had enough points) - all JQ flights. Tried again for the next few days - all JQ. Tried my luck at requesting an award seat, but as a mere Gold, got nowhere.

Cheers,
- Febs.
