Might need to split this off thread, but any KF stalwarts here know how successful waitlisting is? Does your KF status have any effect?

I would've thought that for the most popular routes on popular classes (e.g. F on SIN-Euro 77W routes), waitlisting might not have any effect, especially before you need to pull out and book your alternative options.

I have had a number of 'Waitlists' confirm over the years - the tricky part is getting certainty into your travel plans and not having to wait until last minute.

I currently have dilemna of Waitlisted J Saver on 77W dep PEK at 16:45 on May 2 - they can't gurantee it will confirm post Mar 1. They have also changed dep time SQ237 SIN-MEL from 00:40 to 23:50 which means I am screwed anyway even of PEK-SIN confirms.

And YES status can help - SQ still guard their premium cabins pretty closely but the higher your staus the better your chances.

I too have had plenty of waitlists come through.

I had some success on the phone followups before Christmas when I was able to show the rest of a complex itinerary and the reliance of a waitlisted sector. The agent was able to clear the waitlist and ticket. Before doing so, they asked if I was ready to pay for the ticket now: perhaps they have incentive on how much they ticket.

As always with these things having flexibility is important.

I think for my future waitlisting efforts i'll get as many sectors onto the same booking.

Another thing to know about waitlist is that SQ seem to give until a few weeks before the travel to actually pay for the successful waitlist. For instance, if you book online and there is availability then you must pay at that time. If you waitlist and then that waitlist comes through, you may not have to pay until 21 days before departure. This means many successful waitlists may also not ever get ticketed and then free up award inventory 21 days out.
