Hi folks,

I've put in for a points upgrade to J on my way back from Singapore to BNE this Friday, does anyone know of a way to guesstimate the chances of the upgrade going through? I'm a lowly PS, so pretty far down the priority list...

Flight over looked pretty full in both cabins, and tickets weren't cheap (is Singapore popular at this time of year or something?), so I'm not liking my chances at the moment. Need to mentally prepare myself for the flight back in Y!

That look like a classic flight oversold in WHY.

A WP would have a good chance; PS not so good.

I would guess < 10%.

Well, if the upgrade doesn't come through, I just snagged a bulkhead seat, so maybe Y won't be too bad.

I don't think the A bulkhead/exit seats on the the A333s have the same delightful feature as the K seats, with the window-side armrest that folds up, do they? Love those K seats...

AFAK, both 23A and 23K have armrests under the windows that fold up.

Only issue is leg room if over 6'.

Awesome - thanks Serfty. Love those seats, even the bulkheads have enough leg room for me at 6 foot, with short legs and a long torso!

In fact 45K on the A333s is just about my favourite economy seat anywhere - that escape slide's flat top makes a pretty decent footrest :D.

We managed to get two of us upgraded Y (L fare) to J on QF 52 back in October.

One of us PS; the other QP/PS

Ours also was chockers down the back (well, thats what the CSM told me from seat 1A!)

I wish they'd upgrade to a 744 on that route - it always seems chockers.

Yeah, I don't think I've ever seen spare space on QF51/52 in 5 round trips in the last 12 months. I like the A333s though, 2 seats on the edge is much nicer than 3.

I actually had a 743 on it not all that long ago due to the Bangkok airport closure fiasco! That was a nasty surprise, expecting a nice A333 with AVOD and getting an ancient jumbo.

At the same time and in the big picture I would always pick the 744 over the A333. At least we know that the Boeing will actually make it to old age unlike the Airbus product :!:

I will admit to a small moment of trepidation when an A330 I was on hit turbulence and bumped downwards for a second or two, after the AF crash!

Upgrade seems to be declined, as expected :(. It showed up as declined online waaaay before the 5 hour mark, too, which is a bit sad!

Danny

This is all normal.

If it is really declined, the "second box" dealing with the flight in question will usually disappear at the T-5 hour mark.

Most upgrades with Qantas clear from T-18 to T-12.

Please report back closer to your flight departure!

Ah, OK - excellent. I'll keep my fingers crossed then! The J segment does still show on checkmytrip.

Thanks guys. That seems like truly woeful website design, but oh well, what can you do?

Danny

OK, looks like I'm definitely declined now. The J segment has disappeared from qantas.com and checkmytrip. Ah well, such is life...
