How to book a sale price on gift voucher?

This must have come up earlier, too, but how does one book a business sale price on a gift voucher?
Checking the normal booking engine on the QF website, I get a SYD-AKL (via MEL) business sale in November for $1093.


But when going to redeem a gift voucher, the system shows much higher prices (the GV value is whopping $50). How can I get it pushed down to the sale price???

Does it adjust to the expected price if you proceed through to the payment page? I've seen this happen occasionally when using flight credits. If not, you may need to redeem it via the call centre and explain the situation.

This is a known fault. Call and get assistance from QF, make sure they don't charge the assistance fee.

You might have to guide the operator through the process, i.e. the price using a GV and the price without.

Sometimes I've fund the tool is buggy (gee, shocking!) and on occasion searching for Y fare will bring the discounted J fare up as an option(as opposed to searching for J fares which can bring up only the more full fare options)

but yes probably best to brave the call queue to get it sorted out by a human.
