How to book Jetstar flights as a Qantas code share?

I had to fly to hobart this morning at short notice. I did the booking online myself. The most convenient return was a Jetstar flight, which I took the bargain basement fare. Because of that I understand I get no points or status credits. I booked it online on the Qantas website.
When I got to the airport tonight, I see the Jetstar flight is also a Qantas code share. But when I booked it, I couldn't see a QANTAS flight, only the Jetstar. But I reckon if I had booked the Qantas, somehow, I would get points and status credits. But how?

You will only get QFFpoints/SC's when on the Qantas codeshare of a JQ flight if booked in class Y, B, H or K. FWIW, Full Economy SC's are applicable in that situation.

I don't see any benefit in booking under the QF flight number, rather than the JQ number.

Looking at Galileo, the QF codeshare flights are only used for F/Flyer bookings, there's no other bkg classes available to book, so i'd suggest you can't do so.

So even I booked the most expensive economy fare with JQ, on a JQ flight number, I don't get the SCs and QFF points?

Aren't they used in some cases for connecting flights as well?

I was looking at flights between Perth and Singapore on the QF website last night, using flexible dates where you get a calendar showing the cheapest fares but not the actual flight numbers or times. I was all excited because they were offering $661 return at Christmas which I think is pretty decent. Delving further today to check on the flight times the $661 is only for JQ flights. Importantly, they are JQ flight numbers, not QF codeshares.

I find this a little misleading. I'm not aware of any benefit to a passenger in booking a cheap JQ flight on a JQ flight number through the QF website rather than the JQ website. At least with the QF codeshare you get a meal and a comfort pack. I've never before noticed the QF website selling strictly JQ (non-codeshare) fares (eg. JQ3 SYDHNL rather than QF283. They're not selling QF391/392 Sydney/Nadi on the straight Air Pacific flight numbers.

It's been that way since QF and JQ began interlining back in March. Note, however, if you choose and all JQ itinerary (e.g. PER-SIN-PER with JQ both ways) you will get flicked off to the Jetstar site.
