Has anyone who had to book their own hotel on the 19th when the check in system failed actually managed to claim that back from VA?

I phoned the call centre, and got directed to fill in the feedback form on their website. This does not actually allow me to attach expenses and I don't think it's specific enough for that anyway.

Has anyone got an actual email address or something to send this to?

Do you have travel Insurance?

Good luck getting anything off VA - after a flight cancellation mid trip - it took me 2.5 months, 6 calls and many emails to finally get a letter - and that as a Platinum Member, and with emails to the Office of the CEO !

No insurance.

I phoned the GCC and was told to fill in the Feedback form on the website, but they didn't sound sure.

I phoned again and was told to fill in the feedback form. I said I had done that but there was no way to attach receipts as they had told me to. They then said I should fill in the reservations form. Either she was making it up as she went along or purposefully misdirecting me.

I will try again next week. There should be a process for this already I would think.

Insurance is not the panacea that many make it out to be. Many policies have lots of exclusions, including delays that are the fault of the airline (certainly many policies exclude mechanical delays, I am not sure where they stand on computer glitches, but conceivably, knowing insurance companies, they could rule that the a computer glitch is a fault of the airline). And that's putting aside the fact that many people do not take out domestic travel insurance, other than to reduce rental car excesses.

I suppose, sometimes you get what you pay for, insurance wise that is.

Unfortunately, I don't think you will get anywhere with VA..
