A friend has been involved in a not-for-organisation - a theatre company, doing some collaboration work with another organisation in Asia. They want to send a team of 6 young people to Asia for this work. The young people will try to raise some $ themselves, but I have heard that it may be possible to request families, friends or supporters to donate QFF points to help their travel expenses.

Does anyone know if how this work? Or, know whom to contact at Qantas for this? Appreciate any thought(s). Thanks.

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

According to the Qantas Frequent Flyer program terms and conditions, you can only redeem award flights for eligible family members, so that would rule out directly using your QF FF points for booking a flight for someone who is not an eligible family member.

I have not heard of Qantas FF providing the ability to donate points to an organisation (charitable or otherwise) for them to use to book award flights.

If you think Qantas offers this option, then call the Frequent Flyer service centre or email them the question. I am sure they can provide a definitive answer and you can report back with your findings.

Certainly some US-based FF programs do allow you to donate miles to certain charities and they can then use the donated miles to redeem flights.

NM - You are absolutely right. I have contacted QFF and no, they don't allow transfering FF points to an organisation [unlike some US carriers]!

At least a couple of the group of 6 are nieces/nephews of your friend aren't they? ;);)
