Guys,

How do you come across J saver fares? and how early are they available?

I need to fly to China in September this year - I can book now for Royal Brunei on Business class special (must book by June)

Or the other option is to wait for a J saver or used a mixture of pay/points or buy/upgrade.

I have probably 12,000 FF points
45,000 Velocity points (Gold member)
265,000 Altitude points that can be redeemed for 132,000 on Malasia/ Krisflyer or Virgin

please shed some light... I am totally lost out here.

Might I suggest you closely watch Best Flights - most airline specials in J, Y and F listed there.Where in China you heading to?MU currently have $2,300 flights available to PVG - PAL currently have companion fares to PVG, PEK and XMN.I myself am off to PVG Monday morning with MU - yes it ain't QF, SQ, or CX but under 1/2 price it suits me.

Cruiser,

Nice pickup on the 50% flights. I have heard mixed reviews about China easter and China Souther, so it would be great to hear your feedback.

Going over to meet a key business contact for the first time and also attend a conference in Beijing (mainly to justify the business expense). I plan to spend 2 days in Hong Kong, 2 days in Beijing and 2 days in Shanghai.

I need to be in Beijing early in the visit due to the conference.

OK for what it is worth tommorrow\ is the send J trip with MU - and am ready to book another in August.

As I said it aint QF, SQ or CX - but it is acceptable at $2,300 - and \at $2,300 it takes a lot less 'justifying' than QF/SQ at 6K.

When I land in PVG tomorrow at 19:20 I then fly onto PEK arriving 23:55.

I bought a J flight on eLong for AD200 - MU here in Oz wanted AD500 for same flight.

So check with eLong and Ctrip for domestic flights in China - plenty comp out there now so there are plenty deals around.
