In the Albatross710 world this year has really floated by after the very wet start to my business year. Consequently I find myself approaching the expiry date on two Qantas travel vouchers for cancelled flights as a result of the Brisbane floods.

I have until mid November (the anniversary of the original bookings) to use the vouchers, one $211 & a $438. Each voucher has to be used on a higher fare than the original. can be any routing, one way or return. Using each voucher will cost $50.

I'm looking for ideas on itineraries that I can research to maximise points & SC.

Any trip that I take will need to start at BNE. I can finish back in Brisbane or Rockhampton.

The most sectors I seem to be able to get is 5 different flight numbers bouncing between BNE, TSV, MKY, GLT & ROK in various combinations.

Can anyone suggest some other cities that I can put into the mix that might create adverse routings and price.

The finesse seems to be in getting a route that will be close to the voucher strike price.

Any thoughts are appreciated.

What is your original fare class? Also are you sure it needs to be a higher fare class? I think voucher can be redeemed for same booking class or higher.

Not sure of your available travel dates. Currently

Sun 06 Nov 2011

BNE-ROK-MKY 12:30-16:55 $264 (Flexi Saver)
MKY-ROK-BNE 17:30-20:30 $150 (Red e-Deal)

Total $414 for 60 SCs

Sat 12 Nov 2011

BNE-ROK 15:15-16:30 $95
ROK-BNE 16:55-18:05 $95

Total $190 for 20 SCs

So overall 80 SCs + ~$55 on top of vouchers.

If you wait until specials are on as you should be able to get any BNE-ROK-MKY return for ~$190 and 40 SCs which would be your $211 voucher + ~$29. During the special the Flexi -Saver stays the same but the red e-deal comes down in price so your second voucher would then fully cover the 60 SCs. So all up 100 SCs.

OK, great work. The Original classes were, just to complicate things, one was a Red-e and one a Flexi.

When I search online via the link from the Voucher I get search results:

If a Return itinerary search, fares which are greater than a figure which is half the original fare.

If a one way, fares which are greater than the total voucher.

The thing I find interesting is that the effective marginal cost of the itinerary does vary, depending on the available fares and it is possible to fly further for a lower marginal (out of pocket) cost.

Now, if my customer's will just commit to my timetable!
