what is the best way to use my 103,000 points to go business class to nz for 2 adults return business class

Depends what loyalty scheme those points belong to.
(Probably also helpful to know where you're flying from, to be honest. Outer Mongolia will probably require more points than Melbourne.)

we have just a normal frequent flyer account

Search for classic award availability if they are Qantas points. There's really no trick to it.

from brisbane to auckland nz business class, have been told 68,000 points each one way we want return.

Then you'll need to earn more points.

Edit: And classic award prices on AKL-BNE are 41,500 points per person one way. If you can find that, you have enough for 2 people return.

Qantas points?
When do want to go and for how long?
Booking as 2 one ways AU-NZ and NZ-AU is a valid option. No need to fly in/out of the same NZ airport
Look from OOL as well as BNE.
Flight time is only ~3:30 so an economy seat with extra leg room (exit row) can be OK
