Looks like the bonus for opening an HSBC Qantas Mastercard cc has increased from 20,000 to 35,000 for the same annual fee of $199.

Threatened to cancel mine and got 100% refund - spent the refund then cancelled.

Think I might re-apply as 35K pts would be handy.

Held card for 3mths - called to cancel - they offered FULL refund of fee - I accepted - credit appeared in CC - I spent it - called up and cancelled - they asked why - just said no longer required.

I thought that was a standard feature of all CC's since the carbon paper and the click clack machine disappeared.

I don't believe so as you are probably outside of any cooling off period. You could of course ask for a partial refund, the worst you will get is a 'no'.

Of course they are not obliged to give refund - I guess I just got lucky.
