Or (cringes) ATR on SYD-HVB ;)

Ah didn't realise the OP stated it was a 500...hmm..but would you think the HVB-BNE would replace SYD-HVB all together? Can the two co-exist in the commercial sense?

Comes up on ADSB as a 75 but I thought it is a 76. BTW an ATR HVB to Sydney would be uneconomical, I think both can coexist!

Oooh yes I know that the ATR wouldn't happen on the SYD route out of HVB, but is a 190 to SYD, as well as 2 or 3 ATRs too much plane for HVB? And if it is a 76, could we just be clutching at straws? I'm still waiting for some of the schedule gaps to be filled. There's presently an ATR that starts at SYD at 8am and ends its day in SYD at 6pm - clearly room for it to overnight in ABX, PQQ or CFS (But that's for another thread)

Having once lived at Hervey Bay, IMHO Sydney flights must stay for the sake of keeping Fraser Coast airport alive. I really cant see many tourists flying into HVB from BNE somehow, wouldnt you just hire your vehicle in Bris and drive up.. Time will tell if its a profitable route. REX were at one time flying BNE to Maryborough but from recollection it was a dismal failure after only a few months.

BNE-HVB?

With flight times aboard the slug, travel times to/from both airports, BNE air traffic delays and departure/arrival margins.............I'll keep driving.

BDB would be a better choice out of BNE (I would have thought anyway).

EDIT....kalboy beat me to it!

Whilst BDB would be a good choice (and there's nothing really stopping both from happening...) BNE-HVB would in some way complement the existing SYD-HVB flights. They already have a market in HVB, meaning some kind of loyalty, and the flights to BNE would mean a bit more flexibility for those travelling to SYD or MEL requiring a bit more flexibility than the midday flight..

QF have four flights a day, it's working for them, especially with three of tomorrows four only having seats at $450 each way!

ooh there's a fairly liberal sprinkling of Q300s in the schedule...

I edited the post after checking, regardless four flights with $450 seats shows there is a market, GLT folks remember those days quite well.

Into Maryborough? I thought Maryborough was being sold off (or already sold off).

I must admit, I only thought of business in HVB (my only connection) but I guess the vast majority is tourism. How does QF go with BDB? I was thinking business (I also have work in BDB) but it also sports tourism with Mon Repo for turtles and Bargara for the northern most surfing beach.....some great fruit and seafood and Hervey bay is an easy (and enjoyable) drive south and Agnes Waters/1770 is an pleasant easy drive north. Combine this with Lady Elliott and Heron Islands and surely it must be worth a thought?

In contrast, HVB has Fraser Island and geriatrics! (perhaps I need to visit with my tourist sunglasses on rather than my work blinkers).

No, QF link operate into HVB. I think BDB might also be an option for DJ one day but HVB has the edge being jet capable.

So, who flys into BDB? (EDIT.....just realised the QF link comment was in relation to HVB and Maryborough......sorry for my confusion).

I must admit that I drive (I also enjoy driving) and just assumed that QF must fly into BDB.

I work occasionally in 1770 and that drive is pushing the bounds a bit.

QF have the similar flights for BDB, earlier the mayor was lamenting the lack of competition and hoping DJ will make it a destination one day.

Today the mayor was on the local ABC radio saying he can see BDB becoming an aviation hub.
Didn't make the local paper.More important was the trial of a fellow for an attempted armed hold up.Walked into a bakery armed with a knife demanding money however the woman just reached under the counter and said my knife is bigger than yours.I think the paper had the right priorities.
