A bit of a nuisance really but I fell asleep with a chewing gum on Saturday evening .... and now the damn thing feels like it stuck there @ the back of my mouth.

It isn't affecting breathing, eating, drinking or talking but it's just a bit of a stubborn nuisance ..... so any suggestions on what to do?

You could try a scientific experiment to see if beer dissolves gum :p

I would think champagne. The bubbles are far more active and if you get them behind the gum, it should lift it off.

how very odd.... and rather unexpected topic to read! I cant imagine the feeling of having Gum stuck in the back of ones mouth! A dry mouth it must have been too!

Suck on an ice cube over the spot. It will get hard and should be easier to get out. Worth a try, works on clothes not sure about a hot mouth though.
Good luck.

Sounds like you and thewinchester may need to report back with your findings

I have years of experience drinking champagne and have never had a problem with gum sticking in my mouth.

QED

haha nice suggestions on the champagne .... but it might be better value for me to consult the GP, get an x-ray, a referral to the ENT surgeon, a visit to the hospital, put to sleep under a general anaesthitic ... two minutes later and with a big pair of tweezers .. and thing thing is yanked out

ps. ftw I can't see it, but definitely feeling something there :(

I wouldn't count on the general anesthetic. I had a problem in my throat (not something stuck though) and the ENT told me to open wide, sprayed something, went in the tools and snipped off the offending bit.

Immediate relief.

Probably stupid suggestion (and pardon if you've already tried) but have you tried coughing forcefully and often?

I went to doc yesterday who is of the opinion that I have a throat virus rather than a stuck piece of gum in my throat

Today it still feels like something is lodged there but I'll wait a few days first, hopefully that feeling disappears, or I am back to see the doc asking for an x-ray to prove what is or is not there ;)

BTW the shouting / screaming at Britney's concert last night didn't really help the throat

Sounds like you might need to try dousing it with something to kill that nasty virus. Hmm, now what might be a suitable liquid to attempt to kill of such a nasty piece of work? Hmm, I think some of the options have already been mentioned ;)

I withdraw my suggestion. I now have no sympathy for you.

1. You went to Britney's concert.
2. You LIKED it :!:
