So, I don't normally have nightmares, I don't have any sleeping disorders and I'm not crazy (well, I don't think I am anyway). But last night I had the most unusual dream. In it, Qantas a330 aircraft VH-QPH exploded in mid-air on a PER-MEL flight and 3 people died. In this dream I wasn't on the plane, just saw it on the news. I'm not making this up and I'm actually slightly creeped out! I'm sure it means nothing but just wanted to share. Do any other frequent flyers out there have dreams like this about flying?? :-|

I have had a dream probably a dozen or so times in the last 10 years. Always the exact same. Something goes wrong mid air, plane loses altitude coming in to land, I'm gripping the arm rests as we come down at an angle at high speed saying to myself over and over again, oh Jesus, that's it, that's it, I'm gone, then the plane slams into the ground, presumably I'm dead, but I wake up sweating.

I'm kind if used to it now, but in the beginning I was freaked out. And I'm a very relaxed flyer!

I'm glad I'm not the only one then! Like you I'm a very relaxed flyer, it just doesn't make me nervous, so I was quite surprised to have a dream like that!

I'm glad it's not reality as I was on QPH multiple times last year!

As for the dreams, it's been a while but I seem to have one where I witness a QF 747 ditch into the swan river. Had that one a few times, but I always had a different view point each time!

Not so much planes crashing i don't think, but several times after i come back from trips, where i am pretty full on travelling day in day out for 4-5 weeks, i will wake up not knowing where i am, thinking i might be in a train station or museum or some place and its all dark and closed up and need to turn on the light or something to realise i am home in bed... Just my mind still in full on travel mode before settling down to the hum drum...

Maybe cut back on watching Air Crash Investigations??? :-|

My repetitive flying dream always has the plane taxiing down a large freeway and turning into side roads and then stopping. I usually get the dream a few months out from a big trip.

I've had a few over the years and they've all been the same... a Qantas plane crashing in Sydney CBD (wing clips a building and plane slams to the ground).

Airplane Crash
To dream that a plane crashes signifies that you have set overly high and unrealistic goals for yourself. You are in danger of having those goals come crashing down. Alternatively, the crashing airplane represents your lack of confidence, self-defeating attitude and self-doubt. You do not believe in your own ability to achieve those goals. Loss of power and uncertainty in achieving your goals are also signified.

Dream Moods: Your Dream Symbol Interpretation :)

I watched the first ep of Lost before my first long haul flight...

i do have plane dreams before long flights but they aren't usually involving crashes fortunately...

The best way to crash is in a flight simulator so it's time you went in one. Crashes are less of a problem and you can try landings and take offs and be the hero in your dreams.

Good advice from sage Cove. I don't think I've ever had a plane crash dream. The only dream I've ever had about flying was that I was flying to Bandung with V1213 and my Mum, and it was over a lot of jungle and beautiful rainforest. I was really elated. At the time, I had no idea where Bandung was, I just remember looking at the ticket and that's where we were going. Must have seeped into my subconscious mind somehow.

Mattg, unless the plane was empty, there'd be many more than 3 casualties, so take heart in that this dream is unrealistic on many levels.

Yes, it didn't really make much sense, but when do dreams ever really make sense? :)

I'm not nervous about flying and this has hardly changed that, it was more that I found it unusual.

Only once, and I was actually on a flight to Tokyo for business.

I woke up with quite a start; thankfully I didn't wake up yelling - as that might have been rather embarrassing. A couple of whiskeys soon sorted me out, and I dozed off again without even worrying about what I'd dreamt earlier.

Considering the number of times I fly I hardly ever dream about aircraft.

Back in the 90's on a trip to Greece the day before I was due to depart I was dreaming that I was back in Australia and I was concerned how I was going to get back to Greece to make my flight back to Australia. The dream was very real and I still remember it ~20 years later.

I have some pretty weird dreams. My mind is very active at night. Rarely about flying though. I doubt want anyone analyzing them so not going to describe any of them...

I normally dream about missing flights but I have had a few dreams where I have seen planes crashed.
