I hate sitting this close to a propeller

Ok know there's a higher probability of self injury elsewhere but it always irks me. I think it all started when I flew on Talair Embraer EMB 110 Bandeirantes as a kid

I thought I remember someone somewhere saying that the lhs is slightly safer with clockwise spinning blades, because of gravity is more likely to cause the blades to sheer left in a failure. If not, one for mythbusters.

Curious as to whether the OP feels nervous sitting that close to a jet engine (which is what a turbo-prop is) that is NOT driving a prop?

Still a LOT of metal not far away whizzing round and round at fantastically high revs!

*On a serious note, the propellor from a light aircraft I saw crash ended up quite a distance away from the wreck.... presumably "spat" off to the side on impact... with the rotational velocity powering the movement?

agree there was no carry on, just staff doing their jobs. Quite refreshing from this who ha world...

For me it's the sight of the prop whirring away. A jet engine - controlled explosion and is out of sight out of mind. That said QF32 is a great example of a parts failure.

I would have expected the props to be counter-rotating, so either they'd both shoot out and away from the plane or they'd meet somewhere in the middle of the cabin

I certainly don't like sitting and avoid where I can sitting in the spin off path of a blade.

Being risk adverse to things that can cause pain I also don't make a habit of riding in the front carriage of suburban train.
