Essshhh I just got home and I realised I left my Ipad on a flight from AKL......should I expect to see it again??

I called and left a message with lost baggage but they are only open from 9:30am to 2:30pm!!

Has anyone ever done this before?

I wonder if I can claim it on travel insurance?

I've left a laptop on a QF domestic flight and had it returned :)

I've left BOSE noiseless headphones & IPOD on a JQ flight and received a call as I was turning into my driveway....yes, JQ!

I left an iPhone on a Finnair flight... long long story but eventually did get it sent back from Helsinki.

I am so paranoid about this, but the few times that I have forgotten things I've remembered just as I've exited the aircraft and easily recoverable. Good luck!

I left my iPad on a QF flight to PER. I received a call whilst in the taxi telling me I left it there! Had to turn around and pick it up! I didn't even know I'd left it on the plane.

I think they reissue them to the folks flying on the one Wifi equiped 767...

Well, just to balance the thread, I left an ipod and quite a good pair of Etymotic headphones on a BNE-CBR QF flight a few years ago.
Called lost and found, but they were never to be seen again :(

Hopefully if you have iCloud setup with Find my iPad? Then if someone claims it as their own and switches the connections back on.. Then you will be able to trace it and find where it is? Hopefully however you will be able to get it back from lost property..

(if you do have it setup? Login and select the option to have an email sent to you immediately when it is back in an Internet connection?) This is all assuming you don't have a password on the iPad to start with..
Gogo

Sage advice Gogo! You beat me to it!

I left a book on a Virgin flight once and they rang me about it, picked it up next time through the airport. Obviously a lot less value than an iPad but there is hope. Made the effort to go and get it because I had only read two chapters!

There's probably a good chance it will be returned to you - I was actually chatting to one of the FAs on an ADL-SYD flight the other day and she mentioned that some days they'll pick up more than 5 separate iPads. Now that they are allowed to be stowed in the magazine pocket in front of the seat it seems it's not uncommon for them to fall down behind the magazines and be forgotten, so the cleaning crew are now specifically checking for them.

From what I was told the biggest issue with returning them comes from DYKWIA types who demand that QF put their forgotten iDevice in a taxi and courier it to them.

My little camera fell out of my pocket probably on deplaning QF8 in SYD. Was never found. :(
Hope you have better luck with your iPad!

Glad you got it back - i've left my iPad on planes twice - once I was flying J DRW - ADL with a connecting to MEL

I whilst sitting in CL, they simply put it on my seat for the connecting flight (different seat) so when I reboarded it was there!

The other time was DRW to DPS on JQ! $149 return special - left it on the plane, didn't realise till I was out of customs - no chance of getting back to the plane then - tried calling/speaking to people but really no-one spoke english (or actually inderstood what an iPad was!)

I'd decided to write it off and claim it on travel insurance and continued with my trip...

Got to the airport a week later and when I checked in the staff said in very broken english "ahh Mr Simsy, we have something of yours in our safe, If I show you what it is, can you tell me what the screen saver is?"

I did and she gave it to me! happy days!

Last year I left a pair of noise cancelling head phones on a Virgin Australia plane.

I didn't notice until about 30 minutes later when I was about to take the train from the airport, so I ran back to the gate to find that the plane had pushed back and then the gate checked with the plane and they said they had found them and put them behind the podium at the next gate.

So it always pays to check and it helps to put your name on things, or even just put a business card inside the packaging that way it gives lost and found more chance of trying to track down the owner.

From that one experience and with the improvements with Virgin Australia I now fly with Virgin more often.

It is heartening to read this thread and hear that so many missing items are found and returned to their rightful owners. The only times I have forgotten things on planes (phone etc) I have never seen them again.
