I can't believe it!

Tourism Queensland had a competition and out of 175000 entries, I won.

$10,000 for holidays in Queensland!

Yes, that is $10,000.

In shock doesn't cover it!

So let the suggestions begin!

Tae

PS. I don't have to use it all at once!!! So it is holidays for a year!!!

Congrats Tae, $10,000 will sure make a good couple of holidays... :D

Can't really offer any suggestions as all of my Queensland holidays have been within an hour or so of your home city...

Need a travel partner? ;)

Congrats. I couldn't even start to work out what to plan if given that option.

I could.

And it would involve several weeks on a very exclusive (and expensive) tropical island :)

edit: scratch that, apparently Badera Island was wiped out by Yasi and won't be opening again anytime soon ...

So far I am thinking long weekend with the girlfriends at a spa resort on an island or similar, plus taking a good friend diving for a week off one of the super exlusive (expensive) islands. Then throw in a few more weekends taking various friends and I have barely made a dip in $10,000.
I have been calling people today telling them they have been unsuccessful in a big recruitment drive we have been doing - so hard not to smile while telling them the bad news.

The resort formerly owned by P&O and then Voyages on Bedarra is closed but East Bedarra is open:

East Bedarra Island Retreat: A private luxury island resort for romantic couples, honeymooners on the Great Barrier Reef

I have stayed at Bedarra but not East Bedarra, both put big holes in 10K quickly at an average 1K per night, nice open bar though....sigh

Congrats, I am thinking the next AFF gathering will need be in Queensland if only to help use that $10,000.

Hamilton Island is good and expensive, Sunlander up to Cairns would be nice, a reef trip from Cairns and from Bundaberg would be another suggestion.

Longreach for the Qantas Outback Museum and Stockmans Hall of Fame.

I think a few days on the Gold Coast wouldn't be so bad either.

Enjoy.

What's that resort that is closing down in January? Me, I'd do the tip.

There is some retro 60s resort around Tully that looks interesting. Rather than hamiliton island, I'd look at Hayman or Bedarra.

What about some of those luxury spas in the GC hinterland/border ranges. Not Binna Burra for luxury.

Fraser Island.

Birdsville races, in style.

Congrats! Well Done.

Club Med Lindeman Island I think Medhead.

What about a Planes, Trains & automobiles type trip? You could take the Spirit of the Outback train to Longreach & have a couple of days there. Maybe charter a yacht in the Whitsundays for a week (fully crewed of course) & then there's always Port Douglas & the Daintree.

Was it drawn randomly or was it one of those 25 words or less things?

Enjoy planning whatever it is you end up doing!

I'd go to Hayman or Qaulia on Hamilton. Maybe Cairns or Port Douglas. Winton & Longreach would be fun, but shouldn't dint the $10k too much. Fraser Island? The Branson/Virgin island on the Noosa river?

Personally I wouldn't bother with Port Douglas (overrated and overpriced). Nothing beats Palm Cove for me.

Have to agree although the Port does have some good day tour options while Palm is great for lazy days by the pool mid year!
