Thats brilliant.

Like many before - I'd blow it all at Qualia

That's awesome Tae! I'm sure you'll find productive uses for that $10k. Was it a luck-based or writing-based comp?

Congratulations! I can't think of too many places in Qld that are more "premium" than Qualia or the villas on Hamilton Island. Enjoy working your way through the list! :)

Well Done!! (I need to start entering more competitions)... Firstly the wallabies jersey then this!

Tropical getaway's aside, I could recommend attending the Mt Isa Rodeo weekend, it's the weekend when the town really comes alive and has a great atmosphere. Don't forget to do the underground mine tour.

Does buying ceramic watches on the hotel tab count to the $10k?

Greg.

Palm Cove is better than Port Douglas.

What about going to Magnetic Island.

Then do a driving trip from CNS to BNE via the outback like Charters Towers to Longreach and keep going down from there.

I would love to hire a campervan for that trip.

Mate of mine did it a few years ago and said it was great...

Again a big congrats and we will have a few congrats drinks next Tuesday night in Brisvegas.

I would love to say it was because I am a brilliant and concise writer (as per my win with Qantas earlier this year) but it was a pure random number - and mine was the one that won.
Yongala sounds like a brilliant idea. I am hoping to use $250 of it over Christmas so I can do a day trip diving in Cairns.
So much to do - so little time.
Here is hoping they understand my need to fly Qantas, flexible fares and connect vs direct to make Plat.

I'll ask you properly next time I see you, but presume your tickets/hotels/attractions etc need to be booked by TQ? Hopefully they do understand the concept of flexible fares and luxury accommodation and I presume they won't fall into any commercial agreements that prevent points earn. Any social media posting required?

Congrats once again. Enjoy your treasure bounty!!

Actually its possible that the fares will not be earning SCs/points, as they could be Travel Industry based ones, which is fairly common for such competitions (spending $10K on airfares and not getting points/SCs sucks, been there done that). If thats the case they should be at a level a lot less than normal fares, otherwise I would expect them to be earning SCs etc.

See - I like Port over Palm Cove.....

Palm Cove will be nice for a few days if you want to do absolutely nothing except some spa treatments.

Port is nice for doing nothing, diving or springing off up to the Daintree.

And Lizard beats them all :)

Day trip diving - there is only 1 option worth doing - don't wanna break the rules - so PM if you want the low down. Live aboard diving gives you more decent options, but "most" of the day trips are pretty average. (designed for cheap backpackers or the "photo, photo, photo opportunity" type touristas).

Personally - I don't rate Magnetic Island - couldn't really work out all the fuss.... But then again it's relative to the lack of other things in Townsville.

Yongala is well worth it - but go from Ayr rather than Townsville (30 min ride vs 3 hour trip).

I'd rate Fitzroy Island over magnetic. I canoed around the island many years ago and the coral on the back side was amazing. Of course, they've probably wrecked all that by now.

Sent from my iPhone using Aust Freq Fly app so please excuse the lack of links.

Well I won't for sure until all the information arrives. Till then, I will focus on the positives rather than the opposite.
So even if they are industry based rates, that just means I get a heap more fun.

Well this afternoon has been exciting.

I got interviewed for a media release.

I got to speak with my own personal travel agent!
She was so relieved when I mentioned some of the things I wanted to do - as apparently a winner of a competition from a few years ago who won $5000 each year for 5 years takes 20 of her friends from Brisbane to Dreamworld and stays at hotel on the Coast.

All flights are eligible for FF status and points - she is happy to book whatever and however, so long as there is a land component at the end.

This is going to be LEGENDARY!!!
