Hi,
I'm looking at requesting an upgrade to Business for SYD-DFW for 80,000 points.
The upgrade is giving me the following option:
If Business upgrade is declined, request an upgrade to Premium Economy for 50,000 points
What I would like to know is - is ticking this box going to decrease my chance of getting the business upgrade to begin with?
To take a theoretical example: With all other things being equal, if there is only a single business class upgrade seat available, and there are two people going for that upgrade, one who ticks the box and one who doesn't. From Qantas's perspective, it would make sense to give the business class upgrade to the chap who didn't tick the box and the premium economy upgrade to the chap who does, as this would net them 130,000 points rather than the 80,000 points.
