My friend asked me a question, wich is now making me a little worried, if my visa is declined for the usa, and they do put forward a waiver, and that gets declined, does that effect my chances of getting into other countries?

As the decline will be on my passport wont it? I am wanting to go to ireland later after the usa, and it is more important for me to go to ireland than the usa, so would the declined visa go against me elsewhere?

Maybe I'm just showing my ignorance here, but why would US Immigration put anything in your passport if the visa was declined? I'd have thought they'd have just sent it back to you with a notification that your application had been declined....

Sorry, if i get put forward to the us consulate/embassy for a waiver, after the original visa is declined, as your passport is sent with the application.

when you enter USA you are asked if you've been convicted of any crimes. So even under the Visa Waiver Program you legally need to tick YES to that box - which will raise flags. I'm not sure where that will end up... of if it's a condition of entry under the VWP that you can't have been convicted of a crime?

Best to talk with the professionals I say...

Anyone convicted of a crime involving moral turpitude is ineligible to use the visa waiver program and must apply for a visa to enter the USA. Under the current process of needing to apply on-line before departure, someone should not be able to arrive at the USA and tick yes in the box. The green I94W forms are no longer used with the current on-line/electronic registration process.

But that is not relevant to the OP. Their question is very different.

I would not expect anything to be entered directly into your passport if a visa is refused. If one had been issued and subsequently cancelled then it would appear in your passport. Obviously there will be a record of visa refusal in the US systems.

Either way, being refused a visa for USA entry does not automatically mean you are ineligible to visit other countries. Unless the other country has the same visa/entry requirements or has a requirement that yo not be refused entry into USA, then its not going to be relevant to them.
