IHG Hotels that recognise status

Just a newbie question. As an IC Ambassador does the food and beverage only apply to premium hotels, IC, Kimpton etc, or does it also apply to Crowne Plazas etc? The IC ambassador T&Cs are not clear on that.

I presume you're referring to the Ambassador F&B credit? If so, it is limited to ICs only, not even Kimptons.

Outside of ICs I find the primary benefit of Ambassador is the complimentary included Platinum status which at least in my experience has been enough to get a room upgrade, 2pm checkout and occasionally an early check in without too much difficulty.

That's why I joined. Tried to use my voucher at IC Adelaide but they couldn't as it was charge-back, and what do I care! Thought I would try it on! Doesn't really matter! Enjoying the benefits of Platinum Elite.

Can’t speak for Voco but definitely not those Accor tiers. Generally much better than Ibis, Ibis Styles and Mercure.

The condition could vary wildly by property and age. I wouldn’t say it’s normal across IHG properties as a rule.

I completely agree with you it varies wildly for all the brands both within IHG and Accor. I always look deeply into the individual hotel, can’t trust the brands alone.

For example the Mercure Doncaster (MEL) is fantastic, new modern property > Voco Brisbane which is just a lipstick cosmetic upgrade to an old tired hotel…

From memory Voco Brisbane was a below par Ibis, if such a beast exists, it had four good rooms, the ones with a balcony on the top floor, a floor not served by a lift.

The Voco was a Mercure. The Indigo was Ibis with very large rooms for an IBIS.

Ibis having anything besides Queen, Twin, King isn’t that common. Sometimes a “Family room”.

In some ways, if you’re just after a bed for the night, an Ibis is usually more predictable than many other brands. eg Ibis Styles can be quite good but the Ibis Styles Kingsgate is a cough hole.

I thought Ibis Styles was a bit above Ibis? I thought Ibis in central Adelaide was quite good, but I'm an IHG guy.

Supposed to be more of a boutique version of Ibis - which basically means they can come in any shape and size (not cookie cutter).
