We will be spending about 10 nights in the US in Oct and undecided about HH or IHG. I am Gold with both but which chain offers the best benefits ?

Cities involved are LA, NYC, Ft Lauderdale and San Diego

I would be interested in any comments or suggestions

It probably comes down to benefits vs costs, with IHG often giving 8% or more cash back that can also have a big difference.

I've had good experiences with both chains in the U.S. Hilton appears somewhat more prevalent in many areas though.

Agree...looking at NYC where the rates are about $300 plus per night

If you're prepared to put in a bit of time (or use stay angel) you should be able to get NYC Hilton for less than $200 a night and not much more than $100 per night in other cities.

To me is a no brainer - HHonors gold has guaranteed continental breakfast for two guests.

IHG gold does not ...

Depends on the room rates which is my point, you can get a pretty good breakfast from the cash back ;), I would also look at dining rewards, NYC might be a great place to use your free night.

To me it is still a no brainer ...

Aside from other comments, the op is specifically interested in benefit comparisons - breakfast is one that is a standout.

8% cash back does not necessarily mean cheaper. With rates like MVP fully eligible it is not hard to get inexpensive Hilton family hotel stays in the USA.
