I just got home to find a letter (folded card really) that confuses me a bit as to what the meaning of it is. Emblazoned across the front is IHG Rewards Club, Platinum Elite takes you places. Where are we headed next?
I didn't bother renewing my ambassador membership last year, which seems to have been the trigger for it, even though that was early in 2015. Here's what it says:
Dear swanning_it,
You've recently changed your membership status and while you'll be missed as an Intercontinental Ambassador, we want to see you get the most out of your stays at IHG hotels. That's why we'd like to invite you to continue taking full advantage of your IHG Rewards Club membership.

It then goes on to give a spiel about the benefits.

Also included in the communiqué is a new membership card (Platinum Elite) except its expiry date is 2015, that is, it expired before they sent it out! My current membership (Platinum Elite) expires in Feb. so I'm unsure as to what the point of this is. Any ideas?

One thing I read on the card, but didn't previously know is this:
Since we know convenience is key, you can use your points to book and stay virtually anywhere, even at hotels outside of the IHG family of brands

What's that? Do they mean I can use IHG points to redeem at Hilton?

Check out https://hotelsanywhere.ihg.com I have not really gone into it or tried it out but I understand you can.

Also when you log into your account on the right hand side click on the quick link, redeem points. From there if you look under the "travel anywhere" you can fly or stay in hotels or rental cars. As I said I haven't really investigated it

You can, but don't expect that your points will go very far.....(or be prepared to see big numbers of points needed.)
