Speaking of NZ lounges.... any update on the new Brisbane lounge as I just booked BNE>WLG tickets and the old lounge was the pits :)

I think this is the latest:

First up at the start of 2016 is the all-new Brisbane International Lounge, which will be significantly larger than the current facility.

“We need a much bigger lounge in Brisbane and we want to build a great lounge there, as there’s a lot of traffic between Brisbane and New Zealand” Air New Zealand CEO Chris Luxon tells Australian Business Traveller.

The lounge, which will mimic Sydney and Auckland in its design, is currently being built in newly-opened airport space.

“We’ve been working with the airport to turn what’s currently landside space into airside space” explains Verity Jade, the airline’s Manager for Global Lounges.

“It’s upstairs and down the opposite end from our current lounge with beautiful views out over the airport and across to Brisbane, and we’re looking to open that very early next year.”

Well I hope that date sticks as I'm flying EY from BNE to AUH in late April.
The old NZ lounge at BNE is tiny, old and uncomfortable especially so when loaded up with *A pax for the many flights out around the middle of the day.

im in the BNE Koru lounge right now, was kind of hoping that the new lounge would've be opened. The staff said middle of March, but she'll believe it when she sees it.
The breakfast offering here this morning is dismal, worse then I remember.

I think that the only good thing in the BNE Koru lounge are the charging stations with cords and adaptors for just about any electronic device that you carry.
After watching a couple of old blokes sneeze over the breakfast bar last time I was there, I lost my appetite and had a bowl of nuts with my coffee instead :I

Never seen a new lounge open on time yet - and still sore about missing out on the Al Safwa lounge in DOH last March which finally opened at least a year late.

AusBT just posted a sneak peek of the new BNE lounge - opening on Wednesday, per the article.

Is there an EP1 lounge within? I didn't see it mentioned

Edit: Apparently not

I will check it out next month although I would doubt that they would have an EP1 lounge or similar.

My connection is 3 hours so if there are any hidden spaces or secret doors then there will be plenty of time to find them.

Of course, I could just ask as my status is good

There was a question about this on AusBT about whether there's a EP1 lounge.. Apparently there isn't.

Probably a good thing for us peasants, looking forward to trying out the new ANZ lounge later in the year, it was a much needed upgrade.

Will be at AKL international 4:00pm untl 5:45pm today.

AusBT mentions one with a photo of doors to it.

A few other lounge reviews:

Auckland Regional Koru Lounge - was flying AKL-NSN and used the Koru regional lounge. Was impressed! Relatively spacious, well stocked food and drinks, barista making fresh coffees, fast wifi, etc. No toilet inside the lounge (had to go outside the 2nd set of doors).

Christchurch International Koru Lounge - was flying CHC-SYD on Tuesday evening. They had hot moroccan chicken drumsticks, salmon wraps, finger sandwiches, soup with bread rolls, brownies, cookies, fruit and a few other pieces. Bathrooms were nice and they had shower facilities there.

Are we talking about the same lounge? I was referring to the BNE lounge where there was no mention of the EP1 lounge..
