Impulsive Christmas Trip

Here we go again!

It all started once I saw the Qantas companion sale email ... 2 x F BNE-SYD-LHR-SYD-BNE - booked.

We also booked two seats for the kids, they are currently seated back in whY Their whY tickets have been strategically booked in a class that allows upgrades to business - thanks @madrooster Their upgrade outcome looks pretty bloody good ATM, but who cares If the whole of trip upgrades come through for these two - thats 520,000 QFFP toasted - lucky little buggers

The trip will see us visit London, Lisbon, Segovia, San Sebastian, Bilbao, Salamanca, Madrid, London. We will be staying in some lovely hotels, and eating in restaurants ranging from 3* to rustic. Have a repeat Hamilton show booked in London, plus a few other things ..... it should be a very fabulous family holiday!

I hope you are using the Paradores chain in Spain, although their spread in Salamanca isn't up to the usual standard of grand old 'house/palace/castle' that Paradores specialises in, but it still has fantastic views!

I visited Salamanca several times for work, and loved it (not to mention Sergovia). The best acorn-fed jamon Iberico! I hope you are up on your tapas-ing etiquette and love gigantic G&T's!!

If you are driving, don't miss Avila between Salamanca and Madrid.

The kids might be a bit old to be amazed, but every one can enjoy 'spotting the frog' on the university wall, and admiring the astronaut carved into the doorway decoration of the 'new Cathedral' (c1500s !) at Salamanca

Far more adventurous than my 4 weeks in London in January. But then again I am gong to see my daughter/granddaughter, whereas as you have your children in tow!

The eldest is almost 18, the youngest is 16 ..... they are both wishing for the upgrades given they haven't travelled down the back since kindergarten, and both are well over 6 foot.
