Dates: April 2015
Hotel: Mayflower Park Hotel, Cnr 4th & Olive Street
Flew: SYD>BRI>LAX via Virgin (Reward J flight) and then LAX>SEA via Delta (First)

Agent: So what brings you to Seattle?
Hubby: Jimi Hendrix!
Agent: You know hes dead, don't you?

Seattle is one of my fav places and as my hubby is a big music fan and loves his guitars, I thought I would take him to Seattle, birth and resting place of Jimi Hendrix and while we were there, do the usual tourist things because heck, we're tourists.

We stayed at the Mayflower Park Hotel, 4 short blocks from Pike Place Markets so did all the usual things and enjoyed lots of great food, then the Search for Jimi began.

First was a stop to Capital Hill, to find this statue. It was approx. 8 blocks from our hotel and although we used a taxi to get to it, it was about a 40min walk downhill to our hotel afterwards.

Girl walking past: Whos that?
Friend: Bob Dylan?
Hubby (under his breath): Keep walking Girls, your parents failed you.

The next day was a trip to Renton, much to our drivers concern because apparently its considered a little bit "ghetto" (his words). The drive to the cemetery was approx. 20/30mins and when you drive in, you cant help but see this,

Beautiful memorial, as much as memorials go and the closest I may have seen my husband cry in a decade, even our driver got out and took photos. A few of the granite blocks are lyrics/Hendrix's handwriting and his mother and a few other relatives are also buried there. This isn't Jimi's original gravesite, he had a standard lawn burial but was moved here a few years ago. Tried to find the original but no luck.

Random dude: I travelled a long way for this, Im from Missouri.

Then we went to a nearby park that they are raising funds to rehab into a community park and gardens in Hendrix's name.

And some random Seattle photos:

Kerry Park (we went at night as well)

Freemont Troll

Boeing Factory, no cameras during the tour but there was a small museum and outdoor viewing deck (flight testing was fun to watch) and a gift shop - Hubby hit the gift shop pretty hard.

Visited the EMP Museum (for Hendrix display)

Love all the random artwork around Seattle. For those that don't know, every property permit includes a % fee to the Art Museum which has far too much money so there is random art all over seattle.

We also did the Chihully gardens at twilight.
