Hello all,

I always try to avoid JQ but on an upcoming holiday to Rarotonga I am thinking of booking via QF MEL-AKL(QF) -RAR(JQ operated with QF flight number).

Qantas used to publish what benefits you got on the QF agents site, but that particular item doesn't exist anymore, I asked on twitter and they still can't get me an answer!

All I want to know is what inclusions do I get on a QF flight number instead of JQ#, I've seen in some very old posts that you may get baggage, food and a blanket? Has anyone flown recently on an international leg with JQ and booked as a QF flight number(codeshare) if so what did you receive?

Thank you!

Qantas social media team obviously don't know what they're talking they have said even baggage is extra, however even on a JQ flight number baggage is included.

Seems no-one at QF knows what you get on a QF codeshare with JQ! Frustrating!

Further edit: Found this link hidden on the Qantas site, however it is outdated, doesn't even include the AKL-RAR flights QF3800/3801 but hopefully it has the same as other JQ intl flights with a QF flight number. https://www.qantas.com/travel/airlines/jetstar-information/global/en

No idea what you would get for AKL/RAR, but my most recent 3K/QF codeshare included BG30 (30kg baggage) and SPML (snack/refreshment, or sometimes a pretty ordinary hot meal, plus a bottle of water). They probably don't have blankets on 3K.

I pointed QF social media to the link I found on their agents site and gave them the flight number QF3800, there reply was utterly woeful and shows what state their social media is at these days. Red Roo would have jumped on this and had it clarified as well as the website updated.
Their reply was along the lines of 'we couldn't locate QF3800 as an available flight and that I should contact industry support'.

I have replied rather frankly saying that they should actually escalate this internally and clarify/update the website, as I don't even know who industry support are!

Sigh!

Flying JQ to RAR is dodgy. I flew with them last year on that same route, and at the gate just before boarding they announced that 3-4 passengers had to volunteer to forgo the flight as the plane was over its weight limit, otherwise the flight will be cancelled. Thankfully 3 good samaratins volunteered, an bon voyage we left.
I will always fly with Air NZ on that route from now on, as I had problems with VA for the return segment!

My main reasons why I am choosing JQ is because it will be part of a big-ish multi city itinerary, so in theory having everything on 1 ticket and with QF flight numbers, I should be better protected in the event of a disruption and the rest of my itinerary won't be ruined.

MEL-SYD-AKL-RAR-AKL-PPT-AKL-MEL all with QF flight numbers even the AKL-PPT-AKL are on Air Tahiti Nui codeshares.

Are you sure that can be plated on one ticket?

Yes got it priced via QF res contact centre $2224per person all in Y on QF codes all the way, wouldn't price online using multicity tool.

Yes I highlighted this list to them already, as it doesn't include recent JQ/QF codeshares, eg. AKL-RAR-AKL QF3800/3801.

They (the twitter team) then told me to contact industry support, and don't understand the concept of a codeshare by the looks of it.. Msged Jetstar and they told me to msg Qantas as its a Qantas booking. Might have to goto Alan to get an answer on this! Pretty pathetic.

Well, at least you'll get QF's checked luggage allowance as that's unequivocal.

Apologies cannot help with JQ but the luggage allowance is honoured on 3K flights connecting from QF/EK.

Had a SYD-BNE-SIN-BKK award flight 2 weeks ago and checked in 35kg luggage in SYD including golf clubs. No meal offered on 3K flight I suspect due to being an award flight.

So I thought I would ask QF premium res the question, the agent then made a quick call to JQ trade desk who confirmed i will get a meal(dinner way there, refreshments on way back).
Wish social media would do the same instead of going round and round with incorrect information..

I also got free seat standard seat selection on the way to rar and on the way back to akl i got free seat selection including exit row/up front seats, maybe something to do with the fare class?
