Hello all! My wife and I will be moving to Sydney in a couple weeks and excited to be moving to Oz! I have been playing the points & miles game here in the US and am hoping to maximize all I can while living in Australia. I found this site via flyertalk.com and cant wait to dig deeper into the mass of knowledge posted here by everyone.

Great, good to have another member. It's a reciprocal arrangement you know now that we know where you come from. :)

Welcome to Australia and AFF. Have fun learning the vagaries of the Australian airline Frequent Flyer programs (or taking advantage of any airline partnerships with your existing airlines of choice...). If you are interested, there are a few social events in SYD from time to time. Check out the Meetings and Social events thread (Meetings and Social Events).

This is a current one:

And last year, people met up here from time to time for trivia:

Welcome aboard robbpf. I've had the pleasure of having visited Chicago a couple of times and loving it. Doubt you'll find fresh Garrett's popcorn here but there are lots of other great foods here.

Let us know if you ever get to MEL and we'll see if we can have an AFF social event.

Deep pan, long drop ....

Yep, Kenny will sort it out.

robbpf , if you are wondering what's going on here in this thread, if you haven't already, I suggest you download the Aussie movie called Kenny, and watch on the way over.

Well they do have a deep pan version. ;)

Hello Robbpf,
Have you successfully made the move from Chicago? I'm from Phoenix and look forward to meeting another American from the board. Not that I don't love the Aussie AFFers, natch, but sometimes I just miss the accent. I see Kevrosmith has pointed you to the most recent Sydney meetup thread. Nothing has been finalized but check out that thread and let's see if we can't organize something.
http://www.australianfrequentflyer....anyone-interested-in-meeting-manly-64882.html (Possible meetup in Manly)

In the meantime, here is a little something to gladden the hearts of a few Americans, an In-n-Out Burger pop-up.
In-N-Out Burger pop-up - Mixology Lounge - Restaurants - Time Out Sydney They're not my fave (Five Guys!) but I know some people are big fans.

Welcome to Sydney and to AFF.

Wait, don't set off for your burger just yet. It looks like this is a very very limited opportunity - today only and from 11-3pm.
Now that's just cruel. Sorry if that raised anyone's hopes.

Just a small thing, it is spelled Manly. ;)
