Just checking on line for pricing on MKY-GOV and offered MKY-TSV-CNS-GOV for 20,000 plus taxes, 20,000 does not appear on any zone redemption table and QF advised the "proper cost" was 12,000 plus taxes, other example was MKY-BNE-CNS-GOV which quoted online at 26,000 plus T but the "proper cost" is 18,000 plus T.
Any similar experiences with other destinations or suggestion for problem, I wonder if the correct points would be charged if doing it online?

It seems to be an anomaly based on that it is trying to provide you with (presumably) the cheapest price for the routing on a commercial fare, even if it actually has to price it as two "trips" - and then it's offering you the exact same itinerary as a classic award next to it, which may not be the cheapest available when done as a Classic.

In the case of the 20,000 fare, it seems to be breaking it into two trips at Townsville because, for whatever it's worth, the red deal is close to $100 cheaper ticketing via TSV rather than as a through fare or via CNS (may be due to their current sales) - so the Classic offered next to it is doing the same thing, thus pricing it as "8,000 + 12,000".
Would be the same with the 26,000 fare (broken at Brisbane to be 8k + 18k).

If you select the "Search Classic Awards" check-box, you'll still get the cheapest routing which would be to book it as "one trip" where possible - I see the correct quotes of 12k for fares being shown in the "enhanced" :p interface as 20k. Something that would trip up those that aren't used to the old methods of searching for Classics separately, I guess.

And something that would accelerate Qantas reduction in points liability.

Just found another "difference", looking at ROK-AVV 21/8/14 on "standard " search shows ROK-BNE (QF) and BNE-AVV (JQ direct) for 12,000 plus T but when you search "Qantas & Partner Classic Awards" the result is the same flight but the cost is 17,600 plus taxes, a nearly 50% increase. and incidentally the GCmapper distance on this is in excess of the zone 2 distance limit of 1200. It is actually 1,211

Great Circle distance does not always match "Qantas" Distance.

Called QF and asked for "their distance" and it was over 1,200 from memory 1,213

Checking the "Search Qantas & Partner Classic Awards" box seems to cause the costing to come out as two "trips" - based on change of carrier (of course, this is incorrect). So, it's 8000 ROK-BNE (on QF) and 9600 BNE-AVV (on JQ) totaling 17,600.

ROK-BNE is 322 miles according to Qantas and BNE-AVV 889 miles according to GC (can't get QF online) - so it might indeed be 1211 all up. That would indicate the 12,000 is incorrect.

~~ If a Classic Award Trip includes any flight with a Jetstar (JQ), Jetstar Asia (3K), Valuair (VF) or Jetstar Japan (GK) flight number and a flight number from an airline on the Qantas Classic Award table, the points required for that Trip will be calculated using the lowest quoted Points level of either:
a) the Qantas Classic Award table; or
b) the sum of Points, breaking the Trip into multiple Trips wherever the carrier code changes between those carriers that are eligible for the Jetstar table and those carriers that are eligible from the Qantas table.
If the Classic Award Trip only includes flights with a Jetstar (JQ), Jetstar Asia (3K), Valuair (VF) or Jetstar Japan (GK) flight number, or a combination thereof, the Jetstar Classic Award table will apply.
