Well I stuffed up my AAdvantage registration as per the thread title. The AA website tells me I need to fax supporting documentation to them to prove my surname is what I want to change it to. I don't have access to a fax machine that is reliable and I'm not confidant faxing something like my passport to them.

I was wondering if I had any options such as deleting my account and reapplying. However, I am thinking that might be frowned upon by AA. If anyone could please assist, I'd greatly appreciate it. Thank you.

If you have not used your account I would simply setup another and at sometime in the future ask them to delete the incorrect one.

I doubt if anyone would worry, or even notice as they open many accounts per day.

Thanks :). I actually sent them an email before I checked back here. Yes, no activity. I was thinking of buying some miles - maybe the wrong name was a sign!

I might just try applying again if I don't hear from them soon.

Well, it all worked out in the end. They just added the extra letter and they did it really quickly so I'm impressed with that. I guess the issue must be for people who change their name through marriage etc.
